Description
This atmospheric track was both inspired by the image prompt in the jam page and the primordial landscapes of glaciers in Italian Alps. I’ve entirely composed, mixed and produced on GarageBand, on my battered smartphone.
Description of Setup (Optional)
I just used some built-in GarageBand keys and synths and applied compression sparingly, plus some volume automation when needed.

I like the instrument coming in at 1:58. It's a pretty neat sound you've created here.
Nice job!
Thank you very much Kale!
Hey! I did a review of your entry via video. I posted it on the Jam discord but appreciate everyone might not be on there. Here's the video timestamp for your entry: https://youtu.be/1-aLhBdNCKE?t=4922
Oh gosh, thank you so much! I really appreciated the whole feedback and the unique personal impressions you got from the track. I never thought it could be linked to the concept of observatories and weather stations far in the mountains but I think it’s greatly fitting as well. That rapid piercing scale before the last section was born out of fear on not making the track really “exciting”, in fact, but I should’ve managed it better.
Thank you again, I will leave a review on yours too!
This is really cool. Very dark and moody, but with those light twinkly elements that keep it from being fully foreboding, which creates this really tense feeling. I really like the texture of the harsh plucks as well, it really adds a richness to the song that I really like.
Thank you so much!
Interesting atmosphere started pretty dark and mysterious with the chord progression then 1:50 came in and even though the texture is the same its all different from beginning I appreciate not going for the same ideas. The most impressive part is that ou made this with garage band XD
Thank you FoxHyode!
I love sketching some atmospheric little pieces on GB but they rarely get extended into a full track like this (the largest bulk of my work is made on Reaper) since it’s a very limited DAW. I have to be in the “right mood”, like fortunately I was this time :)
Phantasmagoric but upliftin, the second half is like cloudy and heavenly... like a journey :)
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
You made a great moodsetter, although it sets me in more of an colder/icier area than the theme picture which I guess comes from the glaciers in the Italian alps you mentioned, but nevertheless really enjoyed this!
Only thing on the mixing side I felt and it might be a bit subjective, is taking some of the high end out of the delay effect you have on the dulcimer since to me it feels a bit to harsh compared to everything else being really soft and mellow.
Nice one!
Thank you for your feedback! The delay was purposefully left harsher indeed to give a colder feel, but it’s ok not to like it :)
Had a feeling it was meant for that reason😀.
Loved this ambient, the dilets are cool spreading out the piano and the rest of the instruments. I didn't know you could do that in GarageBand
Thank you for your appreciation! GarageBand on smartphone is limited in its features but it does feature a lot of cool, creative usable sounds
EDIT: Tonight I’m also going to eq it more properly
