I love the concept of this game. The pitch on the itch page, especially the story, had me smashing the download button. Seriously, fantasy magical girls is my jam.

I'm not sure why the game has menus on the top, the only other game I can think of that does this is the Windows version of Oregon Trail from the 90s. The overall presentation of the game is definitely retro, but it's that kinda indecisive retro that can't decide what specific thing it's going for. The music is 8-bit, the graphics are 16-bit, the window frame is 90s multimedia.

The graphics are alright. They didn't blow me away, but they looked decent enough, and the choice of bright, bold colours was a good one. I did find the walk animation a bit silly, but I didn't play long enough for it to become either endearing or irritating.

The parallax scrolling is really cool.

Unfortunately, I never really got past the stage of struggling with controls. I was barely able to start the game and was only able to interact with an NPC once. I kinda wish it just used a standard arrows+zxc layout, but since it doesn't, it REALLY needs to be laid out on the game page, in a README, or ideally the game itself. I mashed keys and figured out A/D moved, W jumped, shift did something, and space did nothing.

Thanks for the criticism!

The windows menu is temporary and will eventually be removed entirely.

I'd like to add a basic tutorial eventually, sorry the controls were confusing!

Until then I will add some basics to the game page.

Nice entry! I like the unique mix between adventure/exploration & platforming. I couldn't figure out how to save the game which made things quite punishing (since it's game over immediately once health is used up). Also, it would be neat to be able to attack during jumping.  Another thing I couldn't figure out is what to do in the town... is it possible to interact with NPCs? Presentation and music is pretty neat. Keep up the good work!

Apologies! Eventually I'd like to add a little tutorial for basic things.

The game auto saves after certain progress is made, also by interacting with Maidens in towns.

Not being able to attack while jumping is on purpose as later spells will help assist with enemies

And pressing "S" on the keyboard will allow you to speak with standing NPC's in towns, roaming NPC's are just decor.

Thank you for the feedback!
