Fun gameplay and a cool concept. Definitely could see it working in other places around the house as well. The use of toys and other majority childhood objects was a simple yet effective level design choice to create a linear shooter. Normally the idea of third person shooter puts me off but the Warframe-esque zoom worked well, other than as EntranceJew pointed out the animation was too strong while zoomed. There are a couple UX things that bothered me, such as the lack of automatically reloading (and with how the audio balancing is, it was a bit hard to tell I needed to reload) and from what I could tell a lack of indication that you were hit (other than health decrease, which isn't immediately apparent), but there are also a couple UX things I really appreciated, such as the blast-radius ring for grenades (which I wish more games would include). 💜

Fun game.  It is an interesting concept on it's own, although I did find out it is possible to kill the enemies from a distance and they would never try to fight back. I killed the final boss this way by accident.

Hm good to know, that's definitely an oversight. This is probably caused by how I did the line-of-sight calculation for enemies.

Oh my gosh the running animation is adorable I love this. Would like to see more levels for this!! Nicely made, I do agree with EntranceJew's feedback as well. Volume sliders would be nice, and maybe some screenshake/recoil would be cool too!

But the style is great, this is really inspired.

Yeah the volume of the sounds is unfortunately not that great but in the end I kinda ran out of time (Technically it was 4 hours before the deadline, but it was 3am already here). I hope the sounds are not too annoying.

The animations came with the toy soldiers and are a work of Mixaill. Unfortunately, they aren't available in the asset store anymore

I just played this and I love it! I'm a big fan of the Army Men series. I definitely understand some stuff getting cut for time, I had that problem as well. I really like what you have so far. Some things I would fix / update:

  • A lot of the sounds are all at the same volume / all sound like they're playing in my head, so when an enemy reloads I sometimes think I somehow reloaded and find that my ammo counter is still empty.
  • Supply caches you open don't give you much visual feedback so I wasn't certain if they had done anything or if they were going to spawn a pickup.
  • Having your character wiggling so violently in the over-the-shoulder cam makes it really hard to focus my aim, however entertaining it might be.

Other than that, I liked collecting the green gems even though I have no idea what they did or what the blue meter was for. They reminded me of lego rock raiders.

I'm glad to have another tiny perspective entrant in the jam, an Army Men style game is something that I wanted to make some day eventually so if you ever want to collaborate let me know. :) I hope you keep working on this.

Yes, I definitely want to continue working on this, that's why there are already some features that don't do anything yet (The green gems are going to be XP in the future, the blue bar is a resource for skills and stuff). The points you mentioned are already on my list, but for time reasons I left it as it is ^^"

The animations are premade for the soldier models. But I think there's a way to edit them from within Unity, right? If so, I can tone them down.
