Like your game. The music is really good and serves the games rythm pretty well.
Have two suggestions in mind, that I want to share with you:
1) You invested some great effort in showing success texts and hints in the center of the game. Such feedback is great and feels rewarding. But as a player I also had to focus on the left side (where the minigame progress meter is sitting) - which is creating a second zone of attention too far away from the visual feedback. I think the experience could be improved by bringing both zones together (maybe showing the progress bar semi-transparent on top (in front) of the loom - right where "the action" is, so to speak.
2) The itch.io Jam page option "click to launch in fullscreen" is kind of misleading. I had this a lot in the past, when devs were developing the game in Unity. Problem is: The Unity game viewport itself stays small (same size as before) while only the surrounding area gets larger. The better option is to include the Unity fullscreen button (it is blue, sitting in bottom right corner) and set the size of the iframe manually, so that the fullscreen button is easily accessible when players hit "Start game". Long message short: Have a look at this game, if you want (one of our former entries): https://flavedogame.itch.io/cozy-tetris
Really good overall! My only complaint would be that playing on a laptop, without a mouse, it is not quite handy to right and left click, so I couldn't go as fast as I would have liked. Maybe you could consider an alternative control scheme to make full use of the keyboard? For instance, using J and L to hit and A and D to recharge. Nitpicking aside, great entry
Very good point, I actually have no idea how this would work w/o a mouse since it was designed around it.
Good game, i love the hammer animations!!!
Really enjoyed playing this - took a bit to get the hand of it.
I really liked the graphics as well.
Really describes the actual incident and is very accurate. Good job
I have a menu appears when right click, could be my browser's issue.
Hi, I have no idea how to resolve that lol. I uploaded a downloaded .exe build for windows, but I haven't tested it. It will be slightly annoying because I never implemented a way to quit the game, so you'd need to tab out of it in order to exit.
Loved the sound track, very much sets the scene well. I found I would only really hit with one of the hammers after a while because it got too difficult to try and manage "refreshing" them with A & D keys. A very solid game loop and a great idea for the jam.
I think if I had more time I would start the player with just one hammer and then introduce a second one. The secret is to alternate swings and reloads in a cycle to the beat, maybe the game could do a better job of teaching the player that.
Love the music. The hammer recharge mechanics are kind of difficult, since you have to stop looking at the loom to pay attention to the recharge bars. The graphics are really nice though. Love the end-screen flavor text too.
Nice game but I guess I don't have the motor skills to be too good at it lol
