I think to improve it, when 3 of the different colored mushrooms are put in the same cauldron it should not just get stuck and just do nothing, and no longer be usable, I don't like this :(.

Also, I think for it to be more accessible such as to people who may fully or partially color blind, if you have major elements of the game dependent on recognizing colors, I think it's important there are also distinct symbols or patterns inside these elements somewhere so that people can easily tell these apart by other ways than just color.

That includes after it's put into the cauldron as well, which is just three circles above the cauldron currently in your game, that change to a solid color based on what color mushroom you put into the cauldron.

Because color is so particularly important as a mechanic in your game, I think it may be important to make it more accessible in this specific way for yours so more people could be able to play it.

It is also beneficial to do this for all players so things are very distinct and easy to tell apart.

Finally, something about the game, even with the in-depth tutorial there, seemed like it would be difficult for a newer or inexperienced player to games in general, more so than some other games.

I could imagine they may not figure it out and just simply give up and close the game.

But, this may have been heavily influenced by the fact that the 3 non matching colors in a cauldron just make the cauldron get stuck and do nothing and no longer be usable - with no visual, auditory, or any other indicator how or why this happened. I am guessing this may not be the way you intended and might even potentially be a bug, but I'm not sure about it.

When this happens and a cauldron becomes unusable, it's just better to start the game over from the beginning, and try again.

I think what it should do is reset it after 3 mushrooms are put in that were not matching colors (with some sort of cue ideally, but at the least, just make all the slots available again and give no benefit or gain to the player).

However even with these things above I really loved the gorgeous visuals and clean mechanic, I thought it was very fun and interesting.

I really liked this idea, and this game overall a lot, and I think you did a really great job on this game!

Hey thanks for the in-depth response. Just curious, but were you unable to create a gray potion using 3 mismatched ingredients? In the game 3 non-matching ingredients should just result in brewing a basic gray potion, so if the game isn't allowing you to do that - that's a pretty big bug!

Your other points about accessibility and colors are spot on tho, I plan on updating this game with clearer ingredients that don't have to be determined on color alone and a better tutorial explaining how to play. I appreciate the detailed feedback.

Glad you enjoyed it in the state that it's in rn tho!

Broom Craft has some amazing game concepts that led to this amazing gameplay where I can pick up the mushroom ingredients and place them inside the cauldron. It's amazing that when I delivered the 3 mushrooms of the same type to the cauldron, I get a gem and level up. The level up system is a neat feature to have inside the game. Although the performance of the game was a bit of an issue for me, that didn't stop me from giving this game 5 stars in every single category of this jam's ratings. Just a pure journey for me to play this game, and a very solid entry submission!

Thanks for the kind review!

Really good game but might be somewhat too difficult I couldn't beat it :d

Really lovely game! The sounds and art definitely made it feel like a finished game. My only complaints would be that the grey(?) and green mushrooms are hard to tell apart, and the small game window size definitely made my eyes strain a bit. But good job, quite fun!

I really enjoyed this game, very polished, the challenge is well achieved and the mechanics of collecting potions are interesting. I managed to reach level 12  :o

Good job! :D

If I had a leaderboard you would be at the top, even I can't get past 11

An interesting concept for the game and I like the animation for the various characters. I like the particle effects and the simple mechanics. Good work!

Nice fun aesthetic and music and graphics tie in well. The controls were a bit fiddly and the gameplay is not massively intuitive. But I think you've nailed the production quality for a lil game jam. Nice

Very complete entry, fitting music. Couldn't figure out how to make potions but I defended the shrine! Well done!

Love the art style and the music in the game. Wasn't clear from the start how to be more efficient in making potions, so it ended up feeling like I was just scooping things up and tossing them in pots at random.
