Game Description
So there's this little guy lost in a cave and he needs to find a way out using a lantern.

How does your game tie into the theme?
Everything is dark, and you can light up the way with your lantern so you can see where to step and reveal platforms to stand on.

fun idea that was challenging enough to keep me engaged but not discouraged! impressive amount of art and sound for solo dev too! the controls could be tweaked just a little to make it feel a bit more natural, maybe add a little bit of momentum to the jump movement, or reduce the amount of control you have while in the air. I found myself over-adjusting a lot because of how much control you had in the air. keep it up!

I'm glad you had a good time and now that I think about, yes, the controls do feel a little too "snappy",if there's a word for that.I'm not too good at physics, but I'll definitely look into it more and hopefully inplement better movement in the next jam!

Cool idea. Levels were quite hard for me. Just lighting up and jumping could be challenging at the beginning. Might be cool to start with even easier levels to just get used to the concept. I was not sure what is the health regeneration mechanism, if there is one.

Would be nice if the light cannot be used all the time. If it was limited in some way.

Cool entry, keep up good work !

I didn't add any health regeneration mechanism and I agree with you with the levels being hard in the begining,I'll probably try to add a tutorial next time and see how that turns out.

Cool concept and execution.  I think the jump function should be gated so that the player cannot hold down the button to continuously jump in a row.  It messed with my attempts frustratingly.  I think if I could jump with my left mouse click and toggle the light with space bar or right click, maybe that'd feel better.  Nice level and sound design and I didn't find any graphical glitches at all.

I am glad to hear this,i will keep your advkce in mind and add the ability to set custom keybinds next time.

You certainly got some neat little things going for you, like using darkness to obscure information, and using light to show/hide objects.

Well done for a solo dev. That means you'll have to shoot higher in January!

Developer

Well, there were a lot of features that I wanted to add initially, but I tried to maintain a sizeable goal given my current skillset.

I focused more on making a working game than polishing the existing mechanics, since I think I could've taken a better aproach at inplementing them, but I guess that's a task for GWJ65.
