I like the sound design and the music.

The game felt good to play, but the movement, and complete reset of levels, when you die was slightly annoying. The AI must have been hard to get working right. On the 5th level, I found the AI struggling quite a bit though, still died lol.

(1 edit)

Yes, the AI was half-baked lol. But at least it worked well enough for the jam deadline. I've been working on the game some more, and the AI has seen a massive improvement, plus got rid of those diagonal circuits that nobody liked :D BTW, my parter will appreciate the kind words on the music and sounds, because that was all his.

I liked the premise of traveling linearly along circuits to collect objects that allow you to advance to the next level. Was about to criticize the odd white rectangular "rest areas" (which I thought may have been the circuit board equivalent of "a bench to rest on"), but then when the viruses popped out of them, shocked my intestines enough to warrant another bathroom break, and you guys may be responsible for any future nightmares that involve sirens.

My only criticism is the loss condition restarting to the start of the game as opposed to the level. Had to cut my losses at that point and continue sampling other games of the jam. Otherwise, I thought this was a fun integration of electronic design into a puzzle game. Good work!

Haha, we really weren't trying to make a horror game, I promise! I do really wish we had taken a few minutes to try and make it so that you didn't have to restart the whole game upon death, but we were just way too far behind and decided that other things needed more work, like adding more levels. Looks like that was all for nothing though since nobody bothered to play long enough to get to them. Thanks for playing!

Nice work. It was pretty challenging.
As someone already said, I wish I could've restarted from the level I died instead of playing again from the beginning. The movement on the wire wasn't very smooth.
What does the middle button do in the menu? I tried clicking but nothing happened (?).

Thanks for posting the game :)

Thanks for playing! The middle button was supposed to be options, but we didnt have the time.

I didn't expect this to feel like a straight up horror game lol. This was really cool though! Like others have said moving along the wire can feel a little finicky, especially around corners. I also wish that there was something the player could do to avoid the anti-virus after triggering them- it kind of felt like I was resigned to just lose whenever I triggered them which felt kind of bad. Maybe having there be one or two "safe-zones" or more ways in the level to outrun them would help with that.

Regardless, great job!

Thanks for the feedback! I too did not like the movement along the wire, but I had to fix the drone AI so I ran out of time. I also agree that it feels like your are almost doomed when you trigger the alarm. Originally, it was planned to only release 1 at a time when you trigger a trap, but again, out of time. I tried to make a later level where there are far more directions to go to hide from the anti-virus. Also, the anti-virus have a radius where they can see you, but if you get out of that radius they can't see you and just move randomly. There were also supposed to be far more enemy types and more puzzle elements like switches to rotate parts of the circuit... but alas..

It is what it is lol, there's always going to be more you could have done! Ah, I didn't realize that there was a vision radius, that definitely helps with what I was talking about.

Thank you very much!

Great entry!! I really enjoyed the movement on the wire, it's a nice mechanics that fits the overall theme and add a twist to the game. It's sometimes irregular and blocks the character, but I believe that reducing the friction will resolve everything :)

Regardless, the overall idea is really nice and fun, I enjoyed it a lot! Thanks and congratulations :D

Nice work! Pretty challenging, I wish I could start again from the level I lost on instead of returning to the beginning of the game.

The circuits were a bit difficult to navigate with the arrow keys; I found myself hitting walls pretty often while trying to turn.

I really liked the designs of MAL and the anti-viruses! Pretty cool character concepts there.

The music and sound were a bit grating at times to be honest. I would recommend incorporating a bit more syncopation in the rhythms as it can help create interest and keep the listener engaged. Maybe the alarm sound could be a bit quieter. Side note, was the music made in beepbox? I think I recognize the drums haha.

we kind of ran out of time and all sound was added last second

and yes the music was made in beepbox!

Thanks for the feedback! Sorry its barely functional, we had a lot more planned, but got stuck on core functionality for far too long, so all the rest got done within the last 2 days of the jam.

Understandable, I've been there before many times with GWJ. 9 days is just long enough to feel relaxed in the beginning until all of the sudden you have 2 days left and no functional game.
