I am not able to get past the military base because the enemies can't be damaged. Is there something I'm missing?
Also I think it's funny that there is gas everywhere but you cannot collect it because you need to find a better energy source.
Good job on the tank controls tho. Feels nice.
I usually try to complete and understand the games that I play in a game jam. But I think in this it just wasn't possible.
You can update the game once the rating is over and I hope to see the rest of it then.
I think in the game it says that this is your first game jam and you want some help to improve.
When making a game it's usually a good idea to start with a good foundation. Make the movement feel good. Make sure all the features you want to have in the game 1. make sense in the first place and 2. are functioning correctly.
I usually try to have all mechanics done and polished by half of the time remaining. The rest is spent on menus , art and especially level design.
Before you start working on a game you need to come up with an idea for it. When making games outside of a jam you usually start with a prototype to see if the gameplay mechanics work together as you intended them to. In a game jam you sadly don't have the time to do that and the finished game basically IS the prototype. So you need to improvise a lot during a jam. Mark Brown (GMTK) has a good video on how games design themself if you let them. If you haven't already you should give it a watch.
I hope this is useful to you.
The controls are nice but I wasn’t able to damage enemies. Also, it is hard to tell apart the front of the tank from the rear.
