Ranked from 12 ratings. Score is adjusted from raw score by the median number of ratings per game in the jam.

How does your submission match the theme?
The player's HP has a dual purpose, shifting you between alive and dead, each of which changes the way in which you interact with the world and its inhabitants. Doors may stop the living you, but your spectral form doesn't mind them much.

Third-party resources
Built using Phaser. Everything else made from scratch.

Developed by four dads, borrowing whatever spare time they had: Massimo, Joram, Jan and Kris.

That was pretty short, but the mechanic looks very promising! Nice aesthetic too!

Thanks so much for the kind words ! We're thinking about exploring the idea further, and making a more complete game. Now that we don't have to rush things, and understand the problem a bit better, I know we can do a much better job.

Good start! I included it in my Game Maker Toolkit’s Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Thanks Jupiter ! Very honoured to have appeard in your series. And yeah, the sword is a bit awkward; we just ran out of time. :-)

hum i don't  know if this is normal but the game ends after the third screen

does the game just end there? also on my first play i was able to walk through the last door

(1 edit)

That is Indeed expected atm.   This was our first game and we only manager to get three levels working.  The fact that you could go throughout the Doors at level 3 in spectre mode is a known bug ;)

Sometimes when going between rooms I would get stuck and be unable to go to the next screen unless I came out of the door and tried again. Aside from that,  I like the art style and would like to see some more rooms and puzzles utilizing this idea.

Thanks ! We had some trouble setting up (and mostly debugging) the triggers for the room transitions. We really need to take what we learned and start over.

We may keep working on the game, if life permits. :-)

I really liked the premise and how I had to "die" to pass through doors but gain life to pass through lights.

Pretty buggy so I wasn't able to progress very far though :(

Still, a solid effort overall!

Thanks for putting up with the bugs ! We honestly started from scratch, having no experience with the game engine or writing games in general. We're pretty amazed we got this far ourselves.
