I would have never guessed this was your first solo game! This was one of the best platformers I've seen in a jam in a long time! The music fits well, the mechanics are pretty polished, and the level design was oh so good!
- Im assuming there would be bugs if you allowed growth at any time but it would be nice to be able to grow while against a wall if you have the room to nudge the player over
- If a box is against a wall it soft locks the game so having something to fix that would be nice. Could be a button to pull the box, or press R to reset
Thank you so much! I appreciate the feedback.
I totally wanted to add a reset button, but I completely forgot to add it in the end...
You are right about the growth mechanic when close to a wall for the record, at first I made it possible to do, but with some of the moving pieces there were too many potential bugs to squash within the time limit.
This jam has been the first time I've made a game fully by myself too! I love the art and style of the game! I managed to softlock myself in the room after the first bubbles twice and there was a small bug where you can move during the starting animation. I think the hitboxes of the buttons and bubbles could change slightly as I got sooo close to pressing the buttons a lot and I kept sliding off the edge of the bubbles. But this game is amazing and I will definitely be happy to see where this game goes!
For this being your first game this isn't only a really good game but I think you did an absolutely fantastic job given the time frame! I like the artstyle and the general gameplay idea is nice as well. I did get stuck in the level that has a bunch of buttons that open/close gates and would've loved a restart button there but that is my only bit of criticism. Great job!
Really well done. I got myself stuck between two of the boxes near the end and couldn't move, but otherwise, everything works smoothly.
