Really cool puzzle game, I got stuck on a puzzle but got pretty far into the levels, really challenging in a good way, I love the sounds it feels so calming and the idea is great!
Cool game, loved the level design. As a fellow block puzzle entry, good job!
Honestly great work. It's basically a full game already. Well done!!
I really enjoyed this. I like that it had an arcade game feel and look. I liked that the challenge level escalated in a balanced way. Overall, very fun!
Really satisfying game, the style is a bit noisy, but I had fun playing this game, thank you for the web support !
Man I like it!! This puzzle is cool.
Seventh and eights level break my mind
Congrats on your team's first game jam! I thought Square Escape was really fun, well polished, and a clever take on the sliding-grid puzzle game that tied in the jam's theme subtly yet meaningfully.
Liked the puzzles and the challenges, very impressive to make so many clever levels in such a short time!
Who doesn't like a good sliding block puzzle? Adding and subtracting to your shape is a pretty nice twist; I wish it had been used more in the early levels (haven't played the later levels yet, so hope there might be some more of it later). Movecount-based star systems are always a bit tricky in games like these; if you're interested, the Thinky Games Discord has a pretty extensive document about it (and is generally a nice place if you're looking to develop puzzle games). Overall, though, a really good start and pretty amazing for a first game, well done!
Thanks a lot! yeah the main mechanic, adding and subtracting is something I personally never saw anywhere else, glad it came together so nicely. I agree with you, the best moves was to prevent accidental solutions or inefficient ones, because litiming to only one solution would have been more restrictive for progression, and also harder for me as a designer, I think it is a ood compromise, but not optimal for sure
Thank you for the feedback!
Yes it is meant to be quite challenging, the more difficult it is the better the satisfaction when beating the level! Glad you found it fun!
We are still making huge changes to levels (unfortunately you will lose progress when we will update the game :( )so please consider joining the Discord to get any news!
