Welcome to round 3

Round 3 is all about story telling, since the dawn on mankind humans have been prolific story-tellers. Everyone loves a good story, we grew up on them, from the bedtime story our parents read to us as a child or the plot of the next big block buster movie. There is a reason we love them so much, we become invested in the story. Story telling is an artform in itself and in this round I want you to focus on your ability to captivate your audience with a tale as old as time... or one you've just made up today, it really doesn't matter.

What do I need to make?

Who will be judging?

The community judging will determine the winners... and losers... If you make it through you'll receive an invite to round 4. Good Luck.

How many Devs will qualify?

At the end round 3 we will be losing 10% of the devs that submit a game.

How should I judge the games?

Judge the entries on the story, did you feel the need to continue playing because the thought of not finding out how the game ends was too hard to take? Or did you lose interest in the narrative after the first sentence?

Tips

  • Break your story down into parts, a good hook to capture the players attention, the middle 'story' and a 'payoff' at the end.
  • Do you research into what makes a good story. Look up 'Classical Hollywood Narrative' to get your started.
  • Try to tell an original story, as something too familiar may lose the attention of your player.
  • Have fun and don't over scope your game. Remember, you need to be in it to qualify.

FAQs

1. What happens to my round 1 character? Time will tell, perhaps we'll be seeing them again, perhaps not...

2. What if I can't think of a story? I'm sure you can, a story is simply a challenge that must be overcome, start with a problem, think of a solution and then talk about the process in a creative way.

3. What if I can't make anything? It's fine, you can either withdraw from the competition by not submitting or just submit what you have.

4. If I have other questions where should I turn for answers? You can join my discord or use the community section of this jam.
