How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
The use of horror cliche characters as enemies, and having to pay money for your abilities symbolizes the loss of self control, which is scary.

The idea is really great and after some trial and error I got into the gameplay. Some jank is totally understandable for the short time, but it's a really cool concept and the look and feel of a gameboy game was done well!
Great music! The gameplay was a bit confusing though
I really like the idea of having to buy your powers back!
I'd agree with some of the comments about the shop. I think the mouse type control and lack of feedback as to what had been purchased was the biggest issue.
It might have been nice to have the game start with the powers though, and then have them stolen, so the player knows what theyre missing. Would have been a good story opportunity.
Music/SFX was good. Very authentic
Nice work.
I could not understand what I needed to do. It took me a long time to even get out of the shop because i had no idea what i was doing in it, or that I could press enter to exit that shop. Once in the game my character was floating in the air and i was getting spammed with some message about getting back to the shop for refund. I was completely lost :(
I am sorry, i could of made it a bit more intuitive. you being hit by enemies and it showing a message to be refunded was an oversight that i could of done better, the idea being that when you die you can change your loadout to suit the wave better. the way it works is that you select the items with the A button (k on a keyboard), with the icons on top referring to what button corresponds to, then pressing start exits the shop.
No worries, readability in games is not an easy thing to achieve. I struggle with it myself. Good job on finishing the game jam, crossing the finish line is always an accomplishment deserving to be celebrated!
Theres a pretty massive oversight where after the player gets hit, youre asked to go to the shop. This was intended for when you wanted to change your loadout. But if you select no, the wave isn't properly reset. Apologies for the jank
Edit for some unexplainable reason it only happens on the first level -_-
Great game! I love the artwork and the music! Well done!
