Awesome! I played a lot because the music didn't let me go) Game looks great! I will wait for the extension!
That was a lot of fun! The cutscenes for collecting resources were a nice touch, and I quite enjoyed the music, though it did become repetitive after a couple of loops.
I was a bit confused at times about what I needed to be doing, so I ended up wasting a lot of time collecting unnecessary resources and dying in the desert! But I sure had a blast up until death by dehydration (I assume).
It's clear you have big ambitions for this game, so I would love to see how it progresses as you continue to work on it.
Thanks for the game. It was quite fun to play, though the goal was kind of unclear to me. I accidentally laid an egg two times and forgot to do it a third time. making it more clear that you need that to be able to continue in the game would be great.
Nice VO at the beginning.
I really like the character design and the graphics are very nice. The music is also pretty chill.
I feel kinda dumb, but I played several times, and could never figure out how to lay an egg. Or craft anything, so I didn't make it very far.
Some feedback: I think the plant could use an invisible sphere volume around it, or just bigger leaves, cause it could be finicky to click on, especially while your guy is moving around. Also, if you fly all the way to the bottom, the camera gets stuck outside the rock walls and your clicking can't raycast or line trace past to hit the ground where the fly can move.
I'd like to get a little farther in the game and enjoyed what I played so far. How do you lay an egg?
Hi, thanks for the feedback.
Yes I feel like a lot of things in the game aren't really clear unfortunately. We definitely need to improve that in the future.
The plant problem is also something noteable, thank you!
There is a Nest next to the Can in the beginning. If you interact with it the skill menu is opened where you can spend your skill point and an egg is automatically laid. If you do not have unlocked any new skills (unlocked features are green), you can just close the skill menu and an egg will still be laid.
Hope that helps, thanks again for the feedback.
Really good game, enjoyed it until I got stuck, couldn't find the satellite station to get the screws.
Really good submission tho
Thanks for the kind words :)
The satellite site is to the north of the starting area. There is a giant Rock blocking the way, but once you get to craft an iron pickaxe you can remove it.
So, since the gameplay is still kind of linear at this stage (in the future we want to give the players more freedom for alternate routes to leave the asteroid) the order of exploration is: Starting area -- Desert Area (east from the starting area) -- Satellite site (north from the starting area) -- Toxic area (north from the desert area)
Thanks for playing our game :)
It looks really good! The voiceover at the beginning, the music, the art, it all mixes very well together.
Some thoughts:
This is a very charming game, with great art and execution. Nice job!
Thanks for the detailed feedback. Definitely some things we want to improve, sound effects were one of the things we unfortunately ditched du to the time constraints, but I agree on this one. We were thinking about an annoying buzzing when you move :DD. I'll look if I can find the visual distortions in the north of the map.
Movement definitely needs improvement I agree, we'll work on that.
Thanks again for the feedback!
This was a cool one, graphics were nice but that's what I expect from Unreal Engine. I usually dont like those crafty buildy games but for a short one that doesn't waste my time I could enjoy it! Especially when you are a fly, that was great.
Great concept! The world felt great flying around on it. Hope to see you expand on it!
The game looks great and the music sounds good. Unfortunately it keeps crashing after a few minutes, so I wasn’t able to do more than just collect some sticks, stones & fiber. I felt the camera movement on collecting the fiber nausea inducing. Looking forward to see some “final version” of this game!
Did you experience the crashes on Version 1.07? I left the original submission on the page for the Jam, but we did some bug fixing and there should be another download noted with 1.07.
If the game crashed with 1.07, would you mind sending me the crash report/log? It should be in the FLyfe/Saved/Logs Folder inside the Game Folder:)
Thanks for the feedback :)
Edit: I hid the old build now, just in case.
Yep, I had the old version. it worked for me with the 1.07. Now I was able to play the whole mission! The egg mechanics actually saves a lot of travelling ;)
I was a bit stuck after building the rocket base, but eventually realised you need to go east to the desert first, after that I got through the rest without issues, and managed to escape the planet. Wow this game has a lot of content, 4 different areas, and bunch of different materials and crafting recipes. It was fun seeing the progress in the rocket, and the skill system was a great way of telling the player what to do next(except the furnace wasn’t obvious).
As a game about progression, it was good, but I’d say that the whole dying and going back to the start every few minutes was a bit frustrating, it did lead to more planning, but because you can lay your egg every time, it never leads to an exciting life or death situation.
There was a bug where I went to the bottom of the map and the camera was stuck behind the rocks so I couldn’t move my character. Apart from that the camera was pretty cool, I liked the way it circled the player as they collected resources.
Overall a really nice entry with an impressive amount of things going on.
What a cute flying anteater. I like this game!
I see you provided an update to improve progression, however I'm still stuck after building the rocket base. I like the idea, however I feel there might be a crucial gap requirments to progress. Or it's still not clear The hammer upgrades asks to smelt a metal from the furnace (which can be built at the workbench) But no amount of playing the same area allowed me to unlock said recipe at the workbench. I can only build fabric. So how do you get the furnace recipe?
First of all, thanks for the feedback :)
The furnace is unlocked once you get the smelting skill. The first smelting skill is unlocked by farming iron and copper ore in the area behind the Big Log on the right.
Note: Iron is present in the south while Copper is in the north of this area.
I agree there is an info missing on how to get this skill. I haven't come up with a good idea to fix it yet.
Anyhow, thanks again for playing our game! ;)
Enjoyed the story and the gameplay aesthetics. Cool submission :)
I like the concept. I got seasick from the camera rotation. After building the rocket site I was stuck, couldn't interact with it and the workbench only let me make cloth.
I think it's not very obvious that you need to collect certain things to unlock new Skills in the skill tree (O). We'll probably add some tooltips to make that more obvious. After unlocking the other skills you'll be able to craft more things at the workbench.
The Rocket Site and other parts are not interactable unless you finish the rocket. For now every part of the Rocket are crafted at the workbench.
Thanks for your feedback.
