Cool tunes, I like the environmental art and personally I liked that it was pretty forgiving if you couldn't really hit the notes because... I can't really hit the notes. Nice use of the theme with fish scales and music scales at once.

I was thinking that it'd be cool if when I pressed the key with the fish in its spot, if it would then play an appropriate tone for the song. This could either be tones already within the song but extracted or perhaps better an appropriate harmony. I think that that would make it easier for me personally to find the rhythm. Maybe some kind of additional little visual cue would help too, in Hi-Fi Rush for example, they often have two concentric circles and when the big one shrinks down to the same size of the little one, you know its time to hit the button. So if you had something like that, and I could see when the fish was within the ring or whatever instead of obscured by the key prompt, I could hone in on that perfect timing better. Just various types of training wheels that would help me to find the virtual groove here.

Just some perspective from someone who is not a genre aficionado. All in all, this is a well put together package and I enjoyed jamming out with the fishies.

Thank you for playing.

I think you have a point, it can be hard to know the right timing without any visual or hearing help. We are aware that hitting the notes can be difficult, and we actually had to make some changes because it was too hard, but at the same time, we noticed that when you repeat the level many times, you will be able to get a high score naturally, like if you were learning how to play an instrument. So, we tried to balance the difficulty without erasing this feeling of progress, but as you could see, we have more work to do. Anyway, we're glad that you had a good time playing.

This game is very hard for me, I tried spamming and got a 10000 something score but it was showing 0 at the end. The buttons and the game's environment is phenomenal.

Developer

Thank you for playing and for the feedback!

Sorry to hear about the score bug. We'll fix it as soon as we can.

I like the second music most.
It was a little fast for me but genre lovers may even find it slow.
I tried to spam and get 20.000 score but ending said 0.
I think rhythm games needs to match action and rhythm so things happen at the same time with the music.

Hi Xentios.

Thank you for your feedback! I'm sorry about the score message bug and thank you for reported it.

We tried to make the fish synchronize with the music, but apparently it wasn't enough.

This game seems really fun, the art is great, I love the music and sound design, but I could not really give it a try because for me there were simply not fish spawning.

I loved the fisherman and the different levels, they looked really great, but no matter what level I went to, it was just the empty water without any fish, so sadly I cant really say much - I hope that this was an issue on my end and that others can give it a try as this game seemed really promising.

I could tell that a lot of effort went into this, so well done regardless! :)

Hi Krossa1,

I am glad to hear you like the game so far and thank you on reporting the bug. I tried to replicate the problem with the fish not spawning, but was not successful, so I was wondering what steps you took to get this error?

This is what I did:

  1. Download the zip file
  2. Extract the file.
  3. Run the "Tidal_Scale.exe". Game starts.
  4. Navigate to Start > Levels > Level 01. Level starts.
  5. Wait 10-15 seconds for the first fish notes to spawn.
  6. Repeat step 4 and 5 for other levels.

Edit: I should also note this with both a keyboard and Xbox one controller.

I just went through those exact steps again with the only difference being that I turned down the volume a bit - sadly the result has not changed for me :( hard to say what the issue is, but if it runs fine for you, I hope the issue is on my end so others can play the game as well
