this is a good one, I like the way you have an underlying pattern holding things together and then multiple different parts coming in & out,

The others have already given you better advice than I can on how to write in the bossa nova style, but one thing I would say is there were a couple points where things felt a bit busy/chaotic? Like I said I do like the way there's a lot of different parts coming in and out but I think there were a couple places where there were a few too many conflicting things happening at once.

Thank you for your comment. I thought this song was perfect when I uploaded it. Now, I think it would be better if it were a bit simpler.

ah i'm sorry if I've made you doubt yourself a bit, it's still a great track and you should trust your own instincts too :)

I actually play in a brazilian band, with quite a bunch of bossa nova in our repertoire, and I like your attempt at it! The modern touch/experimental little details here and there surely make things lively in the piece. The secret of bossa nova is the way each drum elements is accentuated by another possible instruments (usually the guitar and the voice) - nice creation !

I think your icon said that you love LoFi HipHop. Your music range must be very wide. i impressed that secret of bossa that you told me.

Your attempt at bossa nova is surely great! I think that some percussion other than the drums could be a good addition, maybe you can try experimenting with that. Regarding other comments, I think most of them can be answered by seeing your music as improvisation. The leading instruments, like the brasses, feel like they are in a conversation, which of course is not easily predictable. I like this aspect, it increases the jazziness of your music

I listened to Bossa Nova's song again, in the drum, when you put a brush in, the atmosphere comes out, and the main instrument is the guitar. This is an instrument that can't be removed.

I think you're right, when you hear the brushed drum and  the guitar, with the proper rhythm, it becomes immediately obvious that it's bossa nova. Do you know the band Soutaiseiriron? They mainly play rock, but one of my favorite songs from them is mixed with bossa nova style. It's called Sawayaka Kaishine. I think it's an interesting twist of the Bossa Nova genre, just like yours

This is surprising (in a good way): you don't expect such sounds. Sometimes a little difficult to understand where the music wants to go (especially in the melody: the best way to know if the theme is "fonctional" is to be able to sing it from memory after two listens), but it remains perfectly in the style of a good bossa. Funny thing, the building seems, under this music, to become a store where you can buy fishing equipment and some potions to continue your quest. Which shows that the music has a considerable impact on the image: where I made a nostalgic atmosphere close to sad static, you brought a touch of dynamism and joy. And it works very well !

You're quick-witted and good at pleasing people, and you're a nice guy with accurate words and good communication.

Yes this grooves! I like the style. Could be a bit more "structured" but it is very nice. :)

Developer

oh again? I couldn’t understand what you mean the structure. Anyway thanks your comment.

Really cool dynamic you did there  with the piano and the bass! Loved the saxophone(idk if it was a sax, but, anyways, realy cool)

Developer

Thank you.  Yes sax and ah,,,, some brassy instruments in it

i like the bossa nova type pattern with the percussion in the beginning, and chords that the piano plays are really nice through out the whole song :D

Developer

thanks! This is my first bossa!
