  • Kinda slow and sluggish controls, but the story in the notes were an interesting lore
  • great work, really well made.

Who worked on your submission?
It was just me

How does your submission fit the theme?
Based on the very real hit platformer Skellys Big Adventure. This game dives off the deep end and uses a fake doom like engine. This game is mainly about two struggling devs in the 2000 who can't get enough publicity and therefore steal a character design in hopes of gaining attention. However one of the devs derails the project due to his fault on reality.

I commend the effort at tackling Unreal engine for a game jam, definitely impressive to get something made with it. I don't think it's a bad idea to be exploring like an abandoned bootleg thing, but I feel like the meta-narrative stuff detracts from the experience. I think you could make the idea work, I just feel like it's probably something that doesn't fit too well with fecal funny game jam lol. Not a bad idea to continue the project and try to flesh out your ideas more, maybe you can make a more full horror game experience with it?

Developer

Hi, thanks for playing. I wanted to expand on it a bit more but didn't have time cause of work. Though I do plan on actually making a horror game in the future, I've been mainly focusing on 1st and 3rd person shooters and wanted to try something a little different for this Jam  while kind of staying in my lane of skill and trying something a bit different at the same time. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeah i feel that, working full time and trying to do game jams is tough, thats why we did something simple for ours. I definitely can see the ambition, i'm interested to see what else you do!

we serve Fecal Funny here sir

Hey, so I've had another jam mod raise concerns to me that some of the stuff later in the game breaks rule 4 (specifically the part about overly-heavy topics). Not gonna disqualify it outright, but we probably won't be able to have it played on-stream. Also, you should probably add a warning on the game page and when the game starts up.

Developer(+1)

Gotcha, I'll update it and put a warning on the game page and try to implement a warning screen when the game starts up.

Developer(+1)

The game has been updated to have a warning as soon as the game boots up now.

add screenshots, could help get more attention

I like the concept of running through a fake game, unlocking mechanics as you go through. Unfortunately it's incredibly frustrating to get through as some enemies just don't seem to die no matter how many bullets I put into them.

I've never used any Unreal engine before, but those debug raycasts on the gun actually have a really neat look to them. At least that's what I think they are based on quick research.

Developer(+1)

Yes that's exactly what they are. I was planning on removing them as soon as I finished working on the weapons but thought it makes it even more bootleg like.

Hey man my machine cannot run your game AT ALL, think ya could do some optimizing? Or anything? Granted i'm playing on a shitty Lenovo, but uhhh i'd appreciate if ya could do smth abt that

Developer

Hey man thanks for playing, I can try to optimize it though I'm not the greatest at it. The game engine is unreal engine 5 so I can try to optimize it to the best of my ability.
