- Hi, thanks for submitting to the jam! :D This game was a really cool, surreal experience! I do feel like it doesn't really match the bootleg theme that well, but your team nailed the surreal elements perfectly! You should definitely look out for surreal themed game jams in the future! This game looked great and felt very avant-garde. If any of you ever thought about making a surreal game as a personal project outside of a game jam, go for it! I'm excited to see what you make next! :)
- Loved the animations! It was a very cute world to explore
Who worked on your submission?
girlieMachine - Game Dev & Art, Roxy*Pop! - Music & Sound, rakthalekk - Godot Consulting
How does your submission fit the theme?
This game is meant to evoke 8 bit bootleg demakes. This is a bootleg of a fictional Picotron game for a modified PICO-8. (Godot)

A nice game, nice that Lala can even eat void! (no voices tho), very nice experience, especially the little animation/cutscenes, very cool and nicely done!
lala has fallen, billions must eat charcoal
Great animations on Lala in this. Very charming, and I liked finding the sorta out-of-bounds or odd-feeling stuff. It really helped sell a creepypasta vibe. Nice work!
I dunno if it's just for me but none of the controls did anything to start the game in the web version? I'm in firefox, if that matters. Otherwise, this was cute! I loved the out of pocket game overs that didn't match the rest of the game's art. A neat little experience.
That's...definitely not good. It seems to work on my end in Firefox. I'll try to look into it to see if I can replicate it. I'm glad you enjoyed it otherwise though!
Actually out of curiosity was that on the title page or the warning page? If it was the warning page is set to stay up for 6 seconds, but maybe something made it take longer? To be honest I'm not super confident with how the boot splash in Godot works so maybe that was it?
it was on the screen where it says press Z/X to continue, but this time it worked so who knows lol
HTML5 stuff can be weird sometimes on itch tbh. You have to click to get it to register input but sometimes it works a bit weird. It's apparently just kinda a thing with HTML5 in general. Glad that it started to work on your end though!
one thing i have taken away from this is that eating charcoal from trees is a completely healthy practice
very epic gaem, i enjoyed the bubsy 3d references
