  • Cute game. The concept is cool, but I would sometimes block a spear, get the blocking soung and effect, but still get hit, wich was frsutrating. I liked the juicyness of it all, the scaling on the shield when reflecting a spear was nice.
  • Simple, but solid entry. I actually thought the feedback on blocking shots, getting hit, and collecting health was all really well done. Felt really good. The only thing I might change is the way arrows bounce off the shield. While I think it's cool their angle depends on where they hit the shield, sometimes that'd cause them to bounce into you even though you deflected them which didn't feel good. It might be simpler just have them turn 180 degrees and go back the way they came. Also, some different projectiles would have really made the fun of the game last longer. Either ones that moved differently or ones that moved the same as the spears but just looked different. As is it currently gets boring after a few seconds. I'm also not sure why it's dark; I know it's at night but everything just looks kind of dim and it makes the art look not as good. Overall though, really solid entry that could easily expand into a more full game

I don’t know if everyone knows this, but as you get later in the game more projectiles appear other than the arrow

I really like the fact that your shield blocks both deadly projectiles and hearts! It makes the shield both your friend(when blocking projectiles) and enemy(when you accidentally hit a heart away).

Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed the idea!

So simple and addictive. One of those “just one more try” games. I like the muted color palette of blue and gray and only Knight Red. Very good.

Good overall game! Not much to say about this one. I enjoyed it!

Developer

Thanks!

That was so good! I had a hard time protecting myself: apparently I'm really good at throwing away hearts while taking all the spears lol

Btw I also appreciated the graphics and the background music :)

Highscore on writing : 121.86. There's some really nice details in here, like the little camera shake on impact. And the instant replayability with no menu is defintitely something I want to steal for my next jam!

I've never used GDev, but I wonder if the hit boxes could be improved? Occassionally I'd get the sound effect for deflecting a spear, but it would also clip through the shield around the edges and damage me.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, yeah I ran in to that problem when play-testing, but I’ll look in to it more after the jam.

The bouncing spear is a great way to shake up the game loop!

Developer(+1)

Thanks, I agree they definitely make the game a lot more fun!

Very cute! A surprisingly difficult game, though that might just be me not being able to differentiate between hearts and spears

I love how you used the assets to make a gloomier mood

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I will probably make it so it is easier to differentiate between hearts and spears after the jam!
