Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 6! My name's Hythrain, and I'm one of the hosts and streamers for this event! This feedback is being written live on my stream.

Admittedly, I didn't get the chance to play this game live. However, I remember playing this before and the rating I gave it back then, so for the sake of giving it a rating I've done so. I've been meaning to ask, is this game done?

Unfortunately, it's far from finished. However the demo has been greatly polished over the previous iteration, thanks to the feedback I received then and now.

I joined the previous edition of Feedback Quest around a half year ago, and I believe you did submit immensely helpful feedback then, big thanks for your help👌

It's not, okay. I'll make a point of trying to stream it this week, even if it's not during the event itself, to ensure it gets covered as well. :)

I saw this title in previous FBQ but did not get to it, this round I started with this game, I think overall it's a pleasant read, it's a pretty ambitious journey to record in such detailed realism of the trip, also appreciate the WIP animated intro, beautiful sprites, nice animation, and the partial voice acting, alot of nicely processed photos, it's a labor of love.  I haven't gotten far into the game but I played a good hour atm.

We find the need for food icons or crop CG.

Also I need to know how is Montreal bagel different from other bagels, like... what's on it?  Especially if the visual novel is related to travel, food is a big component in tourist attraction. Also need to have a different cafe backgrounds if she's visiting different cafes, even a stock temp bg would help before the game is finished.

Thanks for checking us out again! It was pretty fun watching your playthrough on Twitch

We'd definitely get a new cafe background and food CGs, but our budget is pretty tight, so expect for them come once I can gather enough funds to commission an artist.

Also, this is what's different about the Montreal-style bagel:

In contrast to the regular bagel, the Montreal-style bagel is smaller, thinner, sweeter and denser, with a larger hole, and is always baked in a wood-fired oven. It contains malt, egg, and no salt, and is boiled in honey-sweetened water before being baked🥯

I think even photo manipulated bg and stock food icon for in place graphic until you can commission someone would work too, just throwing this out there. :) Best wishes developing.

Montreal bagel sounds delicious, thanks for posting the info.

Man, what a comfy visual novel! I really like the slow pace of the story, and I especially like the sound mixing, cg, background, and sprites. They are all high quality. I also like how you provided so many options to customize the font style, size, and textbox, although it was hard for me to tell between the cream and white font colors.

I don't have many issues, since I understand this is still a work-in-progress. The prose itself has room for improvement, but you could always use a proofreader for that. I also found the default ambience sound was a little bit too high in volume for me, since I couldn't hear the voices and music in some occasions, so I turned it down. I also noticed the fading didn't work for some of the ambient sounds, but I think that is a bug of the renpy engine.

Also, a funny thing happened after I first started the game. When I first saw the menu, I noticed the continue button was clickable. When I clicked it, it crashed the game, giving me this error:

I probably wasn't supposed to click "continue" before first clicking "start," so that's just me being curious and stupid lol.

What initially drew me to this VN was through your backgrounds. I was especially amazed by how you edit the backgrounds from the real images; the first time I've seen them were when you posted them in the renpy discord, and every single edit you've made awed me. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember you posted a photoshop video tutorial for the backgrounds that one time. If that was you, can you please link it again?

Again, I think this VN has a lot of potential, and I can't wait to read more!

Here is it, my technique does differ slightly but it should work for most ppl ❤️

Thank you for your kind words, I'll look into the issues you mentioned, esp the "continue" button one
