Hi Ecko! I finished watching the VOD, thank you again for playing and streaming my game ;\\\\;
I'm really happy to hear that you liked it and found it intriguing! (Also, that you found the red path room good!)
It was a pleasure chatting in the stream, thank youuuu

Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 5! It's nice to meet you! My name's Hythrain. I'm part of the FQ team and a hobbystreamer. I'm writing this review live after having played your game.

To begin, I will admit my dislike of wasps and wasp nests. So right off the bat, you had extra creep factor going in. The more I hate the feeling, the better a job you did. And maaaaan did I hate that feeling! The nests all throughout and growing more has me creeped out, and then there's that room with that AWFUL asmr sound effect! Ugh, just thinking about it makes me shiver in disgust! You did an amazing job with that factor.

I think the number one thing you need is for your background and area art to match with the movement tile size. The long hall with the red path is so much worse when sometimes you're in the middle of the red and sometimes on the edge, and you feel like the edge isn't close enough so you go up and then game over. Making them match up would be better. If this doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll explain further.

I also felt that there  were a lot of times where the player had no indication of where to check. This particularly caught me for a while when I started playing.

Overall, I love and want more.

Hi Hytrain!
Thank you again for playing and streaming my game!
I'm really happy to hear you found it enjoyable even if you don't like wasps, and that it was effective! I went through a lot of weird ASMR videos about hornets, wasps and bees on youtube before settling to that SFX so I'm definetly glad it was worth it!

I saw other players having problems with that map specifically, so I'll probably redo it from scratch. I think the problem is it's way bigger than it looks like and the game counts the red stripes as one tile and a half, so it's not clear visibly... as for the second one I'll watch the VOD to note them, so I can improve on that! Most of the exploration and actions in the game are entirely optional, so sometimes it's too dispersive maybe...

Anyway thank you again, I really appreciate the detailed comment!
And if you play more I'd love to know what you think about it (and if you discover the secrets ehe) >\\\<

I likely will play more of it. Given how fast I'm getting through the games, I will likely be able to dedicate a few days to specific games I wanna explore more. I'll be sure to let you know when I do! :D

This is great! I'd literally just suggest replacing some of the stock sound effects, and maybe adding 8 directional "pixel movement", so it feels more fluid. That intro is an effective hook!

Hi Scorpio! Thank you for playing my game!
I'm really glad you liked it so far >\\\< gotta say, I didn't think about the stock SFX, I'll go through them and see if I find suitable swaps!
I've never put 8 directional movement though,  I saw you are a RPGMaker dev too, can I ask you how to do it?
(PS of course I'm playing your game too ehe)

There are nice and easy, plugins/scripts available, which engine is this in? Thanks for checking out my game as well! :)

Developer

It's MV! But I have a specific plugin that clashes with many popular ones, so the ones I tried didn't work properly ;w;
(It's the plugin of the maps so I can't remove it)

There's some I found off hand. I hope one works for ya.

I died pretty quick because of my experience with the door.  I did choose to end my playthrough at this point because that ending was perfectly fitting to me.  The storyline didn't quite resonate with me, and the non fluid movement was not something I liked.

I think graphically the character portraits are stand-out good, and convey emotion really well.  The writing was good, even if the story didn't really hook me.

Wow the quickest speed-run ever! You finished the game in like 5 seconds, congrats!

Hi Vmeezo! So, I found your playthrough in the VOD and, minus the opening movie, it was one minute long for real...
I appreciate you tried it even if clearly it was not your cup of tea, but I'm not sure that ticking games fast off a list is in the spirit of this jam.
By the way I wanted to thank you for trying to find positives (I really do appreciate it), especially art-wise! Unfortunately the movement is the one built in the engine, but I'll study a solution to make it more responsive!

Playthru cut a bit short by my child raiding me. A really thoughtful game, I love the presentation and how it all come together, great art, memorable style,  a lot of info to take in as well, the lockpicking took me alittle try but I was able to understand the mechanic without much explaination on the third attempt, the characters personalities are vivid, I do look forward to learning more about it, hope to revisit later.

Hi Mayshing, thank you for the review ;\\\\;
I watched the VOD before commenting and I had lots of fun seeing you play, react and talk to the chat! The comments in the chat were lots of fun too, I wish I was there to participate too. Also I'm really happy to hear that you liked it so far, even if the lockpicking was difficult at first! If you need hints to progress I can help (like for the third elevator part), I'd really like to see your reactions to the other characters' appearence!
Thank you again >\\\<
