I am going through all submissions to make all developers aware of an important Google form I've made.

I'm joining the IQ folks to help organize smaller events in between the main FQ event in order to help prevent us from getting too many games in main events. Right now, I have a planned structure for these events but I would like to hear from everyone who was in this event in order to tune things better. The survey is a bit long, but it covers as much as I could think of. If you can take the time to do the survey by June 1st, I would immensely appreciate it!

You can find the form here: https://forms.gle/P9LPYwERhJtpZzteA

I played the demo on Steam with my kid. The graphics are lovely, and we had fun controlling a character each. However, we seemed to encounter a bug pretty early on. After reaching the big tree, he asked us to talk to the elder person, and we had to do some memory puzzle. Before we could activate the puzzle, I lost the ability to move my character, while my kid could still move hers. Later on, we both regained control, and activated the puzzle, but I could move my cursor to highlight the words, but she couldn't. We tried a few times but each time only 1 of us could control things.

Thanks for the feedback and sorry about that, I'll log it and look into it. It was only that puzzle causing the issue?

We got stuck on that puzzle and didn't continue after. We had a first puzzle with the musical notes and that went well!

Hi there! I had the chance to play through your lovely game this evening on stream, and I'll stay by saying it was a beautiful world to explore! I played the single-player version and I will say that some of the controls were a little tough to get used to when switching between them. I attempted to play the game with a game pad, but it didn't recognize the PS controller ( as I'm assuming it was meant for xbox). Being able to have the option to choose wasd or the arrows would have been nice for that function too!

Overall I thought it was a pretty straight forward game: collecting resources, solving puzzles as you figured out which of the two on the team needed to play what role, and island exploration. I think I wanted just more with the story! I want to know more about the characters, what BO is, how do the two of them already know to work so well together? In the full game, having a tutorial area separate from the main island would be a great start!

As for the controls, it would be nice to have a more visible indicator for when the other of your partner is "staying"-as many times it was difficult for me to see when it was toggled on or off. Also the singing mini game...It would be awesome to have actual songs that differed for each of the little friends you awaken-or even just cycling between a few different ones so that it's easier to match the rhythm instead of just hitting it when it crosses the bar. The concept is there, it would just make it more enjoyable overall!

I also would love to hear different music in specific areas-Or maybe as you start healing the island, the music can become more upbeat and help set the mood alittle differently/give it depth as you go over parts that have been corrupted. I enjoyed the diversity of the scenery, but having a mini map somewhere on the screen would be super helpful!

At the beginning, it would also be nice to have a secondary "are you sure?" option because I accidentally started co-op multiple times and couldn't exit out of it to the main menu without quitting the game so it took away from the experience overall.

Really great solid start though, and I can't wait to see where it goes!

Hello from tonight's stream!

At first, I had no idea what to expect from this game. Then within 5 minutes, I had major Banjo-Kazooie/Yooka-Laylee vibes, which is amazing given how little time I've spent with those games. It's fun, adorable and just gives you warm feelings.

I had two issues with the title. The first was how Bo and Fill don't give any indication of the C command. I've had many times where I was trying to order one to stay put, only to move and it not stick. This also happened if I tried to hit it multiple times. I just had to get lucky. It should be more clear that they register the command. It's possible that it's a push and hold the key thing, but that shouldn't be the case for the stay command.

The second issue was that even with the lowest settings for the game and the lowest encoder for my stream software, there were framerate issues for the stream. Some optimization work may need to be done to make this better. I'll also note that motion blur and bloom kept automatically turning themselves on.

Cute and relaxing puzzle adventure game! Straightforward tutorials. Art and theme are complementary. I tried to break the game on purpose and I somehow got F1LL over the stone wall without solving the puzzle. This resulted in me getting stuck forever without a way to solve the puzzle to lower the wall. Due to this, I suggest implementing a reset button where B0 and F1LL respawn at a certain spot depending on the area you are in. This way players can't abuse this button to solve puzzles but also will be able to respawn in case of bugs/glitches where you lose a character. Overall, this was very cute and pleasing for a relaxing adventure.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, lol to purposefully trying to break the game, do you remember which puzzle or region the wall was in so I can revise the collisions on it?

I like the idea of a reset button!

It was the Eastern wall where you need F1LL to jump up to lower the gate. You can actually jump all the way over the wall and get stuck back there before you solve the puzzle

I just gave it a quick spin, and will definitely play it a bit more before I rate!
Absolutely stunning visuals, this game has a really nice atmosphere.

The controls feel a bit strange (for keyboard). Maybe some of it is just getting used to it, but I still don't know what q and e turning is for when w doesn't move in the direction you're turned, but rather based on camera? Also - camera control could be more responsive. I suppose it's a choice to have fixed rotation angles as targets instead of continuous rotation, but perhaps allow canceling rotation by pressing the other direction?

Edit - after a bit more playtime:

There seem to be  some frustrating invisible walls in some places - edges that F1LL should easily be able to scale to get to a location but can't, and then you have to go around instead - the purpose of the structures you affect with F is not always obvjous.

I did have a strange bug where Bo suddenly got transported to the ocean and changing to F1LL did not move the camera. Didn't manage to reproduce it.

All in all a very enjoyable game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, do you have your playthrough recorded by any chance? I'm curious about the weird collision issues you're having and what triggered the teleporting!

In terms of the camera, you would rotate it to help you solve puzzles, we'll see if theres a way to make it feel better. Since the puzzles are solved by traveling around a structure we needed a way to give the players a way to see around, finding the camera angle is part of the challenge!

I played the game in April. I will fetch what I remember from it!

I really liked the visual style. Enjoyed restoring the dark trees and other baddies and collecting goods. It was very satisfying. I also love the relationship between the two characters. Liked them saying "Don't leave me here" when they start to separate :')

My complaints were;

1) Camera controlling felt backward and awkward. It wasn't like anything I am used to. If I remember correctly, button choice also contributed to that. (edit: on a controller)

2) I had no problem getting the singing parts done and enjoyed my first time. But it started to feel like a chore not long after.

That's all!

VOD:

Hiiii~ I got about 1.5 hr in for your game, been looking forward to trying the demo.

I love the world, art, the characters, overall enjoy the experience, I found trying to do the singing part as a single player kind of stressful (for me) because my hand coordination isn't that good, but the game itself is forgiving enough to let me pass with tons of failure. I enjoyed collecting the parts to revive the world, reviving the trees and the towers. I had alittle trouble with partner commands, I wish I can know what part of the commend I am on when I pressed C, I suggest showing the commend modes as a speech balloon for the player so we know what modes we are on.

A good example of what I am talking about can be found in Guardian Heroes at 12:10:

Hope this helps. :D

Thanks for the feedback and VOD! We will review and see what we can do about the singing and commands!

this is a really lovely work, the colors and just the general feel is very good. I also enjoyed the little voices and the musical puzzles, everything feels that there's a lot of work and love put into the game. The colors chosen are also a good thing. Wanna see a lot more of this world! Great game (Dalkien from Haunting Humans Studio)
