How does your game fit the theme?
In the game you have to avoid storm clouds and hit wind clouds in order to get a boost. Also, flying "up in the clouds" is the main objective of the game

I enjoyed this game. It’s very friendly in styling and whimsical with trying to reach the end goal in a paper airplane. I didn’t see a listing of controls (maybe I missed them?) so I wasn’t sure if there were controls beyond pointing the mouse that I didn’t know about.

I wasn’t sure where to point my plane to give me the best option of flight since I don’t know where the clouds might be.  Perhaps a “weather forecast” mini map would help the player determine their launch angle?

I think I found a bug that got me to the finish! If you wiggle your pointer up and down, the player character will bounce along the ground and keep a little momentum. It took a few minutes, but I reached the end of the screen and a win condition in this way.

I like the music used in it as well. :)

What a lovely little game. I was able to finish it in 8 days by "butt-scooting" along in the paper plane, which is clearly not intended but I really enjoyed the visuals and audio and gameplay. I could have spent a lot longer playing it (and have played a lot of similar games before). This was sweet, thanks!

I reached the castle in 45 days. It was fun, and I think with some tweaks I could spend a lot more time playing. The controls are quite subtle, and the pacing quite fast, so I ended up mostly playing it as a game of luck, i.e. select upgrades, launch and hope for the best. But the basic gameplay appears similar to flying a glider, you're trying to spend as much time as possible in the favorable weather and as little as possible in the unfavorable weather. If that's your intention, I think you're almost there and can get the rest of the way mostly by tweaking the speeds and accelerations.

One nitpick: It takes a while for the plane to slow to a stop and recognize the landing, would it be possible to add more friction when we collide with the ground?

Nice job!

Thanks for playing! Yeah, the landing detection really needs more work, but that's all I could do 😅 I'll think about it

I really enjoyed it, reminds me of awesome Flash games I used to play. One thing I didn’t understand was plane physics. It feels like there should be some difference between how you rotate your paper airplane and how it flies, but it doesn’t really fly like a plane. I.e. if you angle your plane down, it doesn’t seem like you lose any height.

I still loved it, finished it 27 days :3

Yeah, the mouse positione does give your player a little boost in that direction, but with friction, gravity and all, it just becomes really watered down.Maybe I should give it more power, but then it would be even harder to make the player stay still on the ground when it's done bouncing(and still-detection is pretty buggy already)...

This was one of the few games I played ahead of the deadline, because the splash art intrigued me. I ended up 100%ing it! Had a bunch of fun. Towards the end I was so fast I had to deliberately crash into the ground in order to not win the game before I could finish buying out the shop. Despite that, I think the upgrades are well balanced. I guess the art is all by you? Lovely aspect of the game.

Btw: during my first playthrough I launched myself to the left just to see what would happen (and because the game allowed it), and I ended up falling out of the map. It's a game jam, we're here for the rough edges and all, but if you want to polish this a bit more and being this silly had never occurred to you, I recommend restricting the launch angle (or putting an invisible wall).

Developer(+1)

Right, the left wall! đŸ€Šâ€â™€ïž It was on my TODO list but was forgotten
Yes, the art is all by me :) Glad you liked it!

I love its visuals and how it fit into the theme.

Thanks a lot!

I crash landed right away and could wiggle my way forward at ~3km/h by moving the cursor up and down. That was intended, right? :)

Lovely tune.

I wish there was a way to reset the game without having to close the whole window.

Developer(+1)

Yup. Definitely intended. Definitely. :D

I beat the game by walking like a catterpillar, after immediately falling down after the initial jump. Was quite funny

Yeah, I know, the trigger for the end of day is tricked by rapid mouse movement, so you can wiggle or roll your way to the castle 😅 I couldn't figure out a better way to make it, so I left it like that and just hoped the players would get tired of wiggling after a while and attempt another ride

What are the controls to this? I only found out how to launch and then roll on the ground :--) The theme of the game is lovely - I too would totally want to fly into the sky on a paper plane.

Developer

Your mouse direction gives a small boost to the player, but between gravity, friction and everything, it's hard to notice. Thanks anyway!

Beautiful art, but ooof, so tricky 😅

Could it be that there’s still an issue with detecting when you get stuck/grounded? I was able to happily continue to rotate the paper plane and even managed to hop across the ground that way, which felt very much like bad cheating 😬

Developer

Thanks for the compliments on the art!
Yeah, sadly, the detection of Amy being still is rather wonky, but that's all I could do đŸ˜…
I am aware people can just start rolling and wiggling their mouse until they get to the end,  I just hoped they would get bored at the slow progression and just stop and let the day end
