Theme
In the game, you connect yourself to the spirit of monsters to directly tap into their abilities. Additionally, I needed the game to have some sort of objective, so I decided to go with having to collect puzzle pieces that are connected together later.

Really cool! The sound effects and visuals were cute... And the mechanic where you took enemies' abilities was interesting, too, and it worked in well with the game! I'd be interested in how it could developed into a bigger game! I also like how the big blue enemy didn't take knockback from your attack, just to get across the idea that it's heavy.

A couple times, I'd have to make a jump downward with no assurance that there was ground beneath me. This was especially problematic, because as far as I could tell, that had to happen to get to one of the puzzle pieces in the first level. I looked everywhere but just couldn't find it, til I took a leap of faith! Having to restart the level from dying made that more problematic... Also, I feel like a key press for the shooting controls would be more natural, as I want to aim with the mouse. I got used to it though, and I thought it was a great decision to have the two types of the attack. Also, some unique set pieces around would have probably helped me get my bearings on my location, especially in the first level.

All in all, it's a well-working game with an endearing aesthetic and an interesting mechanic that's just begging to be expanded in a bigger game! Which is fantastic for such a short jam!

Hey, thanks for the feedback! A couple things about what you said, though: You can also use Ctrl and Shift for shooting, the mouse isn't the only way to do so. (It says so in the description on the game's page as well) Additionally, I was trying to make all of the blind jumps less blind by having trees on the platforms that you can see from the top down. Everywhere where you had to jump, you should've been able to see a tree lurking up from a lower platform. I know of an issue though where at one point, you have to jump onto a platform with enemies on it that you can't see, so you can take damage that way which, I agree, isn't very nice.

Also, I really would like to expand this game with more abilities and stuff like that, so thanks for giving me the motivation to do so! <3

You're welcome! Ah, okay. Smart move with the trees - I did use that from time to time.

I think it definitely has the potential to be expanded, so good luck!

I had a lot of fun exploring the levels, and figuring out what the different powers do. The level design ties into the monster powers nicely. The mechanics, art, and sound all felt very cohesive and created a nice ambiance. Great job!

Thanks so much! :)
