[I recommend using headphones!] I used four different flutes (piccolo, oboe, clarinet, bassoon), added additional bird sound-effects, and made it a goofy song with plenty of fun surprises!

Wow! Of all your compositions, this is my favorite! It's awesome. The melody is fantastic and the arrangement is just right.
I'm a big fan of Grant Kirkhope (Banjo Kazooie) and from the first notes I was hooked. I love the bass that goes tonic-fifth with the guitar on the off-beat.
The turnaround with the descending eighth-note to return to the main theme is excellent.
You've done a great job of alternating the melodies. I'm really impressed by the quality of the composition.
And I have to admit that I smiled when I saw my name in your score when you changed the signature. Thank you for this. It's a little touch that makes me very, very happy.
I'm going to give you 5 stars everywhere because I have nothing negative to say. You richly deserve it.
Thank you so much! :D
You always have such a good way of saying things. A "bass that goes tonic-fifth with the guitar on the off-beat" for example is such a perfect way of saying what is going on, where I would probably say something like "the bouncy bass + guitar combo" xD.
I used quite some soundfonts outside of Musescore for this composition, so it just goes to show that sometimes moving outside of Musescore can already improve the song quite a bit! I'm glad you like the quality :D
As you are one of few people who even look at the score, I wanted to give something back by including your name. You're welcome :)
WOW, thanks :O! It means a lot that you think I deserve that. You're such a good fellow *sob*
Very fitting pigeon theme. Loving the recognizable melody and accompanying bandlike backing rhythm. The chaotic quality of some sections gives good balance and rhythmic change to keep the listener engaged. Those bird fx add quirkiness and funfactor. Solid work!
Thank you! I am glad you like the melody and the small chaotic elements. I indeed went for a more quirky song, like Gloo actually, as I personally interpreted a battle against pigeons to be goofy, not scary. Thanks again :D
Hey! I love the direction you took this!
Overall, I love that you were able to create a really fun and whimsical piece that still maintains a feeling of tension for the battle. That's a tricky balance to strike and I think you nailed it!
Also, the choice of using woodwinds was really smart because it helped give the feeling of birds flying and it blended super well with the bird sounds.
Nice job, look forward to seeing your work in future jams!
Wow, thanks! I personally think of woodwinds (especially piccolo) when I think of birds, and the bird sound that Musescore has fits quite nicely with it. I like the 'whimsical' nature of this, as I personally interpret a pigeon battle to be quite goofy, not scary ;D. Thanks again!
Mesmerizing!
This might be the only pigeon entry that gives me majestic feelings: Something most people, including me, might not interpret when thinking of pigeons, which can be both unique and risky at the same time.
However, you managed to pull this off wonderfully while preserving the pigeons' playful energy! The example is an unpredictable time signature shift (both start and end), the instruments that resemble the sound of pigeons: the low-pitched sound being the leader and the high-pitched sound being his pigeon flock (or at least, that's what I interpreted). The melody arrangement is also very catchy and a pleasant delight to hear! :)
Regarding the reason that some people might not be confident if this music belongs in the "1000 pigeons" theme, I speculate that it could be because the music might not fully utilize the chaotic factors that capture the essence of pigeons. I can see a good attempt to apply frantic mayhem energy to the music as mentioned above. However, your clean, peaceful, and majestic aspects (they are all good things!) which reflect the nature of peaceful birds in general rather than pigeons specifically, might outweigh the pigeon elements you tried to convey through the music ;(
That being said, this music has a unique charm and its overall execution is beyond fantastic.
Please keep up the amazing work! :D
Thank you for the detailed explanation :D
I too interpret the lower-sounding woodwinds as the leader and the higher as the flock! I am glad you find it catchy and delightful <3
And indeed, I did not envision this as a "scary 1000 evil pigeons" battle, but rather a "goofy battle where 1000 mindless pigeons are shot at your face". A bit like the dumb cuckoos in Zelda, I find the pigeons not scary but derpy, a bit like Gloo! But I understand why that is not totally what others may have expected, and why some of the chaos might be missing.
Thanks again for your comment! I now better understand why some may not find my song fit the theme well :)
On the other hand, I am glad I get to see different interpretations from various creators; It does give me a breathe of fresh air, and it is the reason why your entry stands out and is unique!
Very much the level of quality I expected from you! Absolutely love this composition!
Thank you so much! It sounds odd to me that people would expect quality from me, but it makes me very happy to hear :D
Very charming and goofy indeed, a classic Schuitemaker™ right there! It might not fit so much with the '1000 pigeons' idea in my opinion, but it's a very lovely song nonetheless!
Haha, thank you! The only bird-like elements I know to add are high flutes (kinda like whistles) and this one sound effect Musescore has. None sound like pigeons though, which is also why I went for a more 'starling' or general bird vibe. Fair point though. Glad you like it :D
I like that it's upbeat and sustained, then becomes a little more ominous.
Each break gives the impression of an uncertain outcome, and their relaunch puts the theme back into focus and is motivating.
On the other hand, I couldn't find the large number of 1000 pigeons in the style.
It's a good track with a good mix! Congratulations
Thank you! I like your analysis. I tried incorporating lots of high piccolo whistles and bird sound effects throughout, but I agree that they are not really pigeons and not really a 1000. I saw this more like a fight against a 'bunch of birds' rather than a '1000 pigeons'. I don't really have the option to add real pigeon sounds to my song (which I also find a bit cheating), so general 'birds' felt more fitting. Glad you like it :D
I liked how the piccolo would transition into bird sounds quite seamlessly.
Thanks! I think a piccolo is a perfect instrument to mimic bird sounds with, so I tried incorporating that. Glad you like it :)
Excellent composition. Catchy and fun. I think I've listened to all the submissions and this one stayed stuck in my head :)
Wow, thank you so much! Really appreciate it :D
I love the bounciness, and the bird sounds are a nice touch. Reminds me of banjo-kazooie.
Thank you :D. I thought the bounciness fitted the goofy nature of such a battle.
Love the bounciness! This felt like a true enemy encounter with a great melody.
Thanks a lot! That means much to me :D
I will definitely try to comment / rate others like you, and I hope you'll come back and give my song a rating in an hour of 6!
Its really satisfying when it goes back to the the main beat, and the bird sound effects fit quite well.
Thank you! You're quite quick, the rating has not even started yet. Don't forget to come back and give everyone's entry a rating when the rating period opens up tomorrow :D, I will try to do the same! But anyway, I am glad you like it :)
