I really like Go, but don't get a chance to play very often. The idea of magnets that will slide the stones around, and create cascades of sliding stones, would add a TON of depth and challenge. I really want to grab a friend and try playing this two-player. Thanks for making this!
It looks like you took a similar graphical approach to my own - text, lines, and circles. :) I took that approach because I'm not much of a visual artist. I like the subtle 3D effect on the stones, and I find the look of your game very pretty.
I wish I knew Go better cause I bet there could be some awesome plays with the additional mechanics.
I never played Go before, but this is interesting!
It's unfortunate that there's no AI as someone mentioned for solo-play.
I don't know about the original rules and how this variation impacts board evaluation for winning/losing position, based on a base Go basic AI algorithm, but maybe there was a few tricks to make an easy or medium one.
Like tinne26 mentioned, this is a really nice idea, but I feel like an AI could have been part of this game's tasks
I watched it with two players on stream (hi @sinisterstuf) and it was funny trying to figure out with chat :)
P.S: also, the transparent white and black on top of the board made it hard for me to see what was the actual color
I love the concept. A Go game with movable stones seems an awesome abstract game. Chains (a moved stone moves a stone) also seem a fancy idea. This game has a lot of potentials. I'd like to see the game rule is more polished. Thanks!
Capturing stones doesn't work?
Unlike rocketnine, I don't play go, I'm only vaguely familiar with it. I can see why this is actually a very interesting concept, but it's really hard to judge it for those that are not that familiar with the game. I understand that coming up with some basic AI would have been difficult, but I still feel somewhat ambivalent about it.
On one side, the current implementation just works. On the other, I feel this was one of the ideas with more potential presented in the jam, and simple AIs, smaller boards, preview of move effects or a bit more polish could have gone a long way. Anyway, I don't want to sound too negative or demanding; I was only triggered by the potential and the merit of the idea on itself. It would be really cool if you manage to make something more out of this!
As someone who loves to play go, I think this is a very interesting addition to the game. Well done.
