This is pretty cool!!

Crowkies Dirty Cash Skip is iconis too dark, missed it existed at first xD Also I feel like it didn't need to be his ability, because it's kinda useless? Why would you use it instead of the Cash ability, which gives you the same amount of money without the stun? Instead it you can still add it to the timeline and make it so you can hover over the icons that are locked in the timeline to  see what they do to prepare accordingly.

Idk if I didn't understand something or didn't pay enough attention, but it felt like you can randomly miss, which if that''s the case is awful in a game like this, if that's not a thing and I'm just stupid then ignore that, sorry xD <3

It not being a back and forth with the enemy makes it get old faster I feel like, also the money disappearing makes it so you have to place money first every time, otherwise I do really like what you did here though!!

THANK YOU!!

I tried to make Dirty cash skip a tool to use if the next turn was locked and you wanted to skip it which leads to more interesting chain reactions. But now that you mention it i do wish i introduced it later in the game and made that purpose clear, along with being brighter...

You are right in that i should have made it so you can see what the locked icons do. Honestly stupid decision by me.

When the jam is over i'll make a few changes and keep this in mind!

Actually that use of dirty cash makes sense and I just didn't see it's potential xD

I really like this concept for an rpg, I would definitely play it. It would needs more variety and more fleshing out but for the jam it's really good.

Yes, certainly my favourite game of this jam. Sure, I will play many more games but I sincerely doubt anything will beat you gameplay-wise.
Although, Blue Tanuki is way to unfair. Reseted way too many times searching for perfect chain. 2 Skip-Turn  Chips on one part of a chain? Too bad, maybe next time. Same deal with the two damage chip. Made me wish for a reset button because I was so unlucky with the rng. If it had 49 HP intead of 50, I would have a better time.
Could use some balancing but we all know that these things take time and there's never enough of that in jams.

Now, for the bugs:
On the right, is the moment when I lost my ability to move. I could still click buttons and animations were working. Just, as soon I got on that circle I couldn't move. That kinda sucked. I was playing browser version so be warned. Download version was working just fine in that regard.
On the left, the question mark, the one below the characters triggers a tutorial. It's kinda glitchy, it gives you another tomato, and when you use +2$ you actually get 4$ dollars since both of them work (only for the time of tutorial).  After beating this tutorial you get teleported to the very begining of the map. A little bit of backtracking and nothing really breaks, so not a big issue, but  maybe you wanna look into it.

Developer

THANK YOU!

Yeah... I was kinda scared the game would be unbalanced in places so i wish i tested it more along with a system to make the random turns on the board more consistent

As for the web version i figured it would break somewhere since i didnt have any time to test it... Happy it didnt result in to much lose but im still feel bad about it.

After the jam is over ill try to fix the bugs and lower the tunaki's health by one :p

I like how you implemented the theme in this timeline planning strategy game.

The pixel art and animations are great and I like how you can walk around the world map.

Audio felt a bit lackluster. Maybe needs more sound effects during the part where you place actions on the timeline? I'm not sure what it is, but I felt like there was an "empty space" in some points of the game.

Gameplay is also very "think" intensive, with all the calculations you have to make in your mind for each step of the timeline... how many coins will I have at this point? where will the enemy be standing? what attack would reach them in that spot? oh I have to use certain moves that are fixed in the timeline so I need to plan my coins ahead...

I definitely think it would be more accesible to play if the game itself showed the board state on each turn if for example you hover the mouse over any point in the timeline. Pointing at a spot that's not connected to the start of the timeline does nothing, of course, since you can't calculate with gaps in the sequence.

I also feel it would help speed up the game if you can use the keyboard to swap between characters, since you need to do that a lot in a single timeline section.

Overall, it's a great game for 2 weeks of work. Good job!

Developer

THANKS!

The intension with the timeline was for the player to concoct a master plan that they work through in their head. Then they press go and see if their plan was genius or crumbled immediately

Still i think your right in that the option to see the money or where each enemy is on each turn or BOTH would be more accesible... That would be a interesting option to give players if they dont want to juggle all the things in their head.

After the jam is over i will add that option. Also i'll 100% add the keyboard idea because thats a good idea and im really angry at myself for not thinking it

I love this. The sprites are adorable and this is a really fun battle system. I'd love to see something like this made into a full game.

What a unique battle system. Really made you think on how to spend your turns.

The enemy designs and the UI is gorgeous. So well drawn and displayed. Easy to understand everything and pleasing to the eye. The map traversal is quite fun too

Creative take on chain reactions. Fun almost puzzle like game. Love the pixel art and it's an overall enjoyable game.

Very creative take on the chain reaction theme.  I also loved the pixel art!  I felt that the gameplay was a little too slow for me, though.  Nice work!

Right now it looks like no enemies are spawning on that map if they are supposed to be there. I explored the entire map without encountering an enemy.

Game is very charming outside that!

OH MY GOD i messed up... It should be fixed now thanks for telling me
