Developer

Thanks!!

This game is great! I love the introduction of new gameplay mechanics to get to know each of them bit by bit. The artstyle is cute, I like that you made it all yourself! For now I only managed to get to level 9 due to the increasing difficulty but I might come back another time to try to make it to level 18 to see the boss.

This is a really fun game with a nice art style.  The mechanic of "flopping" is a really fun mechanic and nicely animated.

Not sure if I just need to get better at timing the flops, but I got stuck on level 5.

Had a few moments before this level where I just seemed to get stuck on a spring, and on level 5 just ended up with the same cycle about 20 times where I would bounce around the corner and not be able to flop or bounce towards the spring between 2 poison pools at the start of the level.

I like the game though, thanks.

Developer(+1)

That is indeed one of the places we were more worried about. You are supposed to time your tail flap with the spring to get both momentums, which turned out to be way more difficult on the web than when we tested it. On later levels we opted for aiming all springs on a slight angle, so that you don’t get stuck.

We’re really glad you liked it, thanks for the feedback!!!

On the surface the main mechanic seems really simple, but I can imagine it took a couple of tries to get it working nicely, and it shows in the way it plays.

I've only played about a quarter of the games on here so far but it is definitely in my top 10 for the jam.

Very unique! A physics based platformer was such a creative way to use the fish tail 'slap' lol. Loved the art, the feel and overall polishment level on the gameplay!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!!

We really wanted to make some kind of different mechanic to just a normal platformer.

Btw loved your game, for me you are the absolute winner of this jam!

Amazing concept and innovative gameplay! Using momentum to move is a really cool idea.
I love the art on this project, especially the cute storyboard at the start
Impressive stuff!

Developer

Thank you!!

The storyboard was one of the biggest challenges, had no idea how to do it. In the end it came out nice, but unfortunately couldn’t get it to work properly. (The game still runs in the background)

I am stuck in the spring in the 5th level it just keeps jumping here and controls dont work when i am on the spring it seems I was really enjoying the game as well.  ;)

Developer(+1)

Thats unfortunate! You are supposed to time youre jump just right to get both jump momentum and spring momentum. In later levels we tried to always face springs slighly towards walls, so that you coulnd't get stuck.  Anyway if you get stuck you can just go back to main menu to restart the level. Don't worry for your progress, it will be saved, even in between games! Thanks for the feedback!

The gameplay is really fun, the character is super cute and funny.

Simple but interesting gameplay! got too stuck on the first level though :)

Developer

We should have made clearer that swiming more than onece grants you momentum. We thought if we made the players do it on the firts level the wll figure it out, maybe not the best choice for a game jam in wich you only get a couple minutes of playtime. Anyway, now that you how to do it, maybe give it another shot, there's about an hour of interesting playtime with lots of new mechanichs.

The momentum mechanic is really fun, once I figured out how to use it it made the platforming way more intuitive. IMO it's just not very clear to the player that swimming in one direction builds up momentum. Other than that, cool take on the theme by implementing both the pun and actual poison :)

Kudos for completing a project and submitting before the deadline! I gotta be honest, though, I didn't see much of your game because I couldn't get the fish past the second barrier in level one :(

Developer(+1)

You get momentum by swimming twice or more in the same direction. Once you learn how to do that, an entire game with much more mechanics opens to you. Please give it another shot and enjoy!!

It's a game with a good idea, but not a great execution, most of the time I can't jump and I couldn't figure out the criteria to being able to jump

Developer(+1)

You are only able to jump when your tail is touching something, so that you can push you away from it. It is indeed true there is a small bug that sometimes(couldn’t figure out why) you can’t jump when on top of a box, but as we didn’t had more time we couldn’t fix it.
