Okay, I see this a lot in game jams where the developers try to tell the player a story, but they don't even let the player explore their game or have anything that's engaging enough for them to stick around for long.
In other words, story should not be your priority here. You should understand what your main mechanic is, work with it, then if it executes well you can show the player your setting.
You have a platformer, but you also have a flat surface in the beginning of your game. Have at least some obstacles that's easy to jump around or get by, instead of having to pick up objects and try to drop them perfectly in order to get over to the other side. That part was pretty stressful, as the flower was dropped down the staircase and I had to walk back down to retrieve it over and over.
Judging by the grammar, I'm guessing English isn't your primary language? You should have somebody double check your dialogue, before adding it into the game.
Thanks for the brief feedback Obarroso1997 I really appreciate that you played the game. Yes, you are right I should have made my game feel better. The movement feels a bit laggy also the game just keeps going with the story, also I never thought how people are going to interact with the flower. It might become frustrating if it gets dropped from the stairs. Also English is not my primary language. Next time I will try to add more game feel and playtesting. Thanks again :D
Ok Obarroso1997 I tried your game, How is it so smooth :O the game feel is great considering that its a jam game.
I love the atmosphere of the game, but I couldn't finish the game since the parts with enemies and platforming seemed too frustrating and unfair to me (that may just be me being bad at that sort of thing lol) and some controls felt unintuitive.
The music and visuals were superb however I may have only played the game for a short time but the experience was very interesting, good job!
Thanks! HamHus for trying the game. I tried your game too "O Contrast" I think it a very interesting Idea well made actually, I think it could be explored more, I had a great time playing it, I will try to fix the controls in the post-jam version. :)
The visuals and the music really make a mood
Thank you so much Michael for the feedback :D
Great game. I like the build up and how you get exposed more and more to the world. The music and the sounds give a really nice almost eerie feel. Yes you are in a dream world but the music makes it feel more like a nightmare of sorts. Really liked it.
Thanks, jamjam2games for the feedback, Lefko is also good. I really like the puzzle stages they were well designed. :D
Very beautiful game. I think the strength in this game lies in the atmosphere and music. It feels calm but has this underlying sense of worry.
Cool submission.
Thanks Jordan that means a lot :D but surely its nothing in front of your's, you truly made a little masterpiece.
lol you're too kind. Part of why I love these Jams is meeting and collaborating with so many awesome and encouraging fellow developers. It's a great community to be a part of.
Your game is actually good Jordan, I think your game should come at least in the top 5, I really like the smoothness of your game, my game lacks it a lot, next time I will work more on the game feel.
