Oh man I love this! Love the atmosphere, the glow, the movement, the speed and control, really good stuff. The music coming in when the boss appears is perfect, so scary haha! I liked the different weapons too, cool idea. Didn't know you could do it till I saw a comment though, I blew straight past them! Hard as hell though and really bullet spongy; it took me a while even with the bow to work out that I was doing damage, some flashing or inverting or blood or other feedback would really help me realsie what works and what doesn't. And as much as I love the vibe I couldn't get past the turrets. Top notch execution though, really enjoyed it thank you!

The audio and visuals are really nice.

I find the combat to be either really tricky to get used to or unnecessary for this kind of game. For instance, why is there aiming when I need to constantly move away from projectiles coming at me? I don't understand how that works. Also, swapping from the Bow and Shield is kind of difficult. And at times, the shield/bow doesn't show up on screen when I hit LCTRL.

Another thing to note is there's times when I can't double jump. Is there a stamina bar that I'm not noticing?

Developer

Unsure about the keyboard issues, Ill look into it in the updated version later.

Double jumping was added last minute and was poorly implemented by me. The check should be if you touch the ground or walls but that may not be working correctly.

This is really awesome. I loved it. I feel like it could be an absolute blast of a game that people would be totally willing to pay for if you update it and add some more content. Was your plan to make it a boss rush or have more conventional levels, too? It feels really really epic when the music starts and the dramatic boss name comes up on screen. I couldn't kill it, though. Once the turrets are dead and it starts firing a gazillion homing missiles, I have no idea how to survive. I got to that point about 4 times before I gave up. I think little things, like a sound effect when you swing your sword and having the turrets flash a bit when they get hit would add a lot to the feel of the game because it was a little confusing at first. I died twice before I realized it wasn't a survival phase of the boss and smacking the turrets was actually hurting them (I noticed the health bar going down). I think drawing some attention to the health bar when it appears would help with that, too. I think this is awesome and I really think you should keep updating it.

Thanks, planned to polish a lot more on the last few days but I ended up having to put together UI and barely scrape by with what I had.

I also wanted to have 3 bosses with a modifier system- but that was cut during the process of figuring out how I was going to get the current boss to (barely) work... I think there's a softlock in there somewhere.

I'm working on rewriting the boss classes so I can make changes between all future bosses without unnecessary copy-pasting everywhere.

I love the aesthetics and overall presentation, especially the torchlight revealing more of the immediate environment, that was a nice touch. That was a really tough difficulty wall on the very first enemy though, oof.

I like how there are multiple equipments. That's pretty neat for a game jam!

Looking good, I haven't been able to beat the first boss yet, but I am really enjoying it!

Developer

There's only 1 boss atm because I didnt have time to make more, but good to hear!
