It's really nice to see such ambitious project on this jam. My main issues were deep fried audio and auto lock-on, which made managing multiple enemies unnecessary harder. Unfortunately I couldn't beat the 2nd boss due to glitches (screen flickering and boss being locked in one action), but aside from these shortcomings this game is very fun.

In what way does your game fit the theme?
The combat is chaotic, the levels are chaotic, the particles and sound scape are meant to be chaotic, the lighting effects on enemies are employed for maximum chaos, the theme is literally name dropped in the dialogue as well.
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote 100% of the code from scratch myself, alongside all of the game design. The art however is primarily made from existing assets, as I am not an artist, and lost a lot of jam time to health issues so I really wouldn't have been able to accomplish my vision otherwise.

Very interesting entry. There's a lot of things going on in the game that is great. The voice acting as a great touch! I would have loved seeing some subtitles alongside, and the character not breathing was a little perturbing when you stare at it for 2 minutes, standing immobile, during the first cutscene. Absolutely loved the theme being plugged into the intro verbatim.
Managed to play it for a while, and while I found the transition animations a little clunky, the fighting aspects were great, and I loved how you just get thrown into immersing yourself into the narrative.
Great job making this happen even though you got sick - and thanks for the game!!
I finally got to play this! Nicely done :)
This game looks incredible. It's amazing that one person can make a game with such visual fidelity in just a week. Truly impressive. The game was dripping with atmosphere and felt near-cinematic, especially with the nice camera swing in towards the action when combat starts. It says something that you're able to pull off that camera adjustment without causing motion sickness - something I'm prone to with wildly swinging cameras.
Once I got a hang of the combat, I stopped dying to the first gun enemies. It felt a little repetitive at first though. I couldn't really distinguish between the left and right click abilities. Also, the game is way too dark. When enemies were on screen, there wasn't any good contrast within their cluster. I just saw a sphere of red light until right up close, and even then they were really hard to distinguish. And I could barely see the giant robot boss in the first area. If these enemies were telegraphing attacks, I couldn't tell. With all that in mind, all of the particles and effects just made the screen even harder to read, leading to some weirdly un-engaging content for what was actually happening. Graphics are great, but I couldn't make sense of it in the end.
Overall, this is still an incredible game for a single dev in a week. The controls are great, the combat feels responsive, and the camera work is outstanding. Keep up the great work and jam on!
Hey! I agree that the first level is far too dark. This was something I wanted to fix, but couldn't find a balance between atmosphere and visibility personally. It's unfortunate, but at least the 2nd level and further are lit brightly.
enemy telegraphing - Enemies have a blue indicator over their heads just before they attack. Unfortunately their animations don't have enough wind-up. The mech has no indicator, but the mechanic is that he always attacks predictably (whenever you are in range he instantly attacks), so I felt he did not need much telegraphing. Good to hear the feedback though! If I release a post jam enhanced edition, I'll include better attack telegraphing for enemies.
Okay first of all the graphics are amazing and the combat is pretty good but there a few problems such as
The lag is not bad most of the time but sometimes theres bad fps drops and freezes
the combat pretty good but since the enemies group up a lot it turns into just click and tap space repeatedly
the music is just not very good and theres not even a setting to turn it off
and the game is really difficult
overall I would say the game is pretty good even with some problems its definitely one of the better games in this jam
also if you had the time it would be great if you could review my game
Running the game turned on my VR headset and all the audio played through it, but it looks cool
I feel bad but honestly, it was a bit too hard for me, and i didn't like the character model.
The audio was a little bit earrape.
Graphics were good, and i congratulate you for the melee, which was cool. Sadly, didn't have much fun. :(
Hey, I do recommend turning the volume down when you play this game. As for the difficulty, yeah, you have to practice abit in that first level for sure but the game is designed to be incredibly easy, for example dodging makes you completely invulnerable so you can just dodge when enemies show their lasers or the big neon blue indicators on their heads.
