How does the game fit the theme?
The player cannot completely trust anyone. The villagers may tell the truth, hide information, or lie to protect themselves or frame someone else. Even the clues the player discovers may lead them toward the wrong suspect.

The only way to uncover the truth is to question testimonies, connect the clues, and decide for yourself who you can trust. Because in this village, anyone could be lying.

For the best experience, we recommend playing the game in fullscreen mode

What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
Most of the music used in the game was sourced from Pixabay and consists of copyright-free/royalty-free tracks.

For the environment and background assets, we used free assets from itch.io. The original creators and their respective credits are listed in the Credits section of the game.

However, all of the characters and some objects and environmental elements were drawn by hand specifically for this game during the jam.

damn nice game really liked it.

Very cool and polished game! Huge respect for having proper cutscenes and maintaining a tense atmosphere. I must admit that the town was a bit intimidating at first as I had no idea where to look for clues but it did improve with time.

One small bug I have found is that the cone of light from the flashlight would shake quite a bit when the cursor was close to the character during movement. Nothing game breaking though.

I also liked the trust system forcing you to make your guesses count. Great job!

Such a cute and fun game!! The Stardew Valley-like visual style works surprisingly well with a mystery game! Having almost the entire map covered in darkness and relying only on a flashlight also makes everything feel twice as tense XD

I really enjoyed exploring while slowly trying to figure out what was going on. The visuals are so cute, but wandering around in the dark looking for clues somehow becomes really nerve-racking, and I loved that contrast!

I do wish there were a little more story or character introduction though TT I wasn't always sure who everyone was, and I had some trouble matching the names, characters, and occupations together. A little more background or character information would make it even easier to get invested in the mystery!

But overall, the game is really beautifully made and the gameplay is very engaging. The exploration and deduction were a lot of fun, and it's impressive how such a cute-looking game can still feel so tense and exciting XD Really enjoyed this combination!

Hmm I went around town and picked up what I think was all of the clues but I didn't know who was who? The map shows the names of people but I don't know what the job of say Marta was. So faced with the end screen I was very confused. I made an educated guess and got it right but I definitely didn't feel like Sherlock haha. The map and the clues list were very thoughtful additions though. I've played a few of these that did not provide any sort of map so good work :)

I enjoyed it! I like the flashlight was cool and the dark and stormy night is always a fit for a murder mystery.  The world was very well decorated too with wonderful artwork. Some small critique is that some of the text seemed to bug out a bit when talking to characters. Some of the sprites overlapped and in one of the houses (the first one on the right of the entrance path I believe) seemed to have something going on that made the floor start bugging out. Other than that, I had a nice time and I think y'all have a solid concept here. Good job!

I have not finished this game yet but I did run into a bug if you interact with gabrials dead body you cannot move anymore the sound effects still play but the character doesn't move at all.

I failed to figure out who did it, lol. I feel like a couple of things might've helped out this game greatly. First, the accusation menu should match the names of the people, perhaps, and the people's chat windows should state their name as talking, so you drive home who's who easier. Second,  maybe a hint system or some sort of visual tells that someone's lying? And finally, instead of just "GAME OVER" if you lose, maybe a little narrative on you being taken out, or kicked out of town, or whatever happened, instead of a jarring loss screen. Or maybe a recap of how many clues you missed? I feel like those would have made this solid overall. Otherwise, you did well with the art, sounds, controls.  Just could've used a little more oomph in those areas. Nice job!

Gank Tronics Team, it's a pleasure.

We considered explicitly naming the roles or NPCs in the scene, but in the end, we felt it was too obvious. We left it up to the interpretation of the narrative and the NPCs' clothing. We understand your points of view and will keep them in mind for a future release.

On another note, we also planned to change the ending of the narrative and not just present a "game over" interface, but due to time constraints, we went with the fixed solution—better a panel than nothing.

We truly appreciate your comments and perspectives; they help us a lot as a development team in our first game jam to better structure the narrative and everything in general for the future. Best regards.

The introductory cut-scene was great. I did find the flashlight navigation a bit cumbersome and therefore resorted to map-walking to find my way between places of interest.

I never figured out the murderer / gave up on trying to solve the crime. In part because I never found the bottle and in part because I didn’t learn who (name) was who (profession).

So professional! Art style, sound, and music are perfect! The cinematic start is really good! The only thing that happened is I'm stuck between Gabriel's house and the body on the floor, and the character won't move anymore! Good luck!

We appreciate your comments and feedback to help us improve in the future and avoid these types of errors. We only recently discovered this error, which only occurs here on the website, and it's due to an issue with the colliders. We happened to test it here on the website several times, forcing the player to move, and it unlocked at some point. It's not the best solution, but we'll keep it in mind for future reference.

Thank you very much!

It's nothing big; it happens all the time, colliders and their problems! Right now, your work is really attractive!
