How does the game fit the theme?
Our game interprets "Strange Places" as spaces that behave unnaturallyโthey change when not observed. The "place" itself is the main character.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
100% original code

Interesting idea and nice vibes! The use of sound and music is really nice, and stumbling upon the map for the first time was a cool moment. I did struggle getting a proper grasp on where I was and what I should be doing, but wandering around got me through both levels. I really like the way the hallways get bigger moving farther away from the center--I feel like it gives the world a good and creepy sense of scale. Nice job!
Ahh thank you so much! ๐ This is such a kind and thoughtful comment—really made my day!
I'm so glad the map moment worked for you! That was one of those little details I hoped someone would notice ๐บ๏ธ And yeah, the wandering confusion is totally fair—I think I leaned a little too hard into the "mysterious" vibe and forgot to give players some breadcrumbs ๐
Really appreciate you taking the time to play and write this. Comments like yours are what keep solo devs going ๐ Hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!
I like the idea behind it.
Adding a bit more polish and clearer guidance could really improve the experience.
Solid effort for solo project !
Iโd love to hear your thoughts on our game as well if you get the chance.
Thank you so much! ๐ Really appreciate you playing and for the thoughtful feedback. You're absolutely right about the polish and guidance—definitely things I want to work on. And yes, I just tried your game and WOW—it's genuinely amazing! The idea is so creative and the execution is spot on. Everything from the environment to the mechanics just works so well together. Seriously impressive work! So glad we got to experience each other's games through this jam. Can't wait to see what you make next! ๐ฎโจ
The concept is pretty cool. The whole place-changes-when-you're-not-looking idea is a good one, and when the wall shifted behind me, that was a great moment to break out of the little room. I did get a little confused about what was actually dangerous at first, but after reading your explanation, it makes more sense.
There's definitely something here. With a bit more clarity and polish around the mechanics, this could turn into something really tense and memorable.
Ahh thank you so much ๐ This comment honestly made my morning!
I'm really glad the wall moment worked—that was one of my favorite things to build, so hearing it gave you that "whoa" feeling is just... yeah, that's the good stuff ๐ซถ
And you're totally right about the confusion. The game kinda just... drops you in there and hopes you figure it out ๐ Your feedback (and everyone else's) has been super helpful—I'm already thinking about ways to make the mechanics clearer without breaking that creepy, mysterious vibe.
Seriously, comments like this are why I love making games. Thank you for taking the time to play and write this. It means more than you know ๐
If you ever give it another go, I'd love to hear how it feels!
i liked the concept. I got confused though i didnt die liek there was a time limit? or just something folowing you beides the colored cubes?
Hey! Thanks so much for playing and for the kind words! Really means a lot ๐ซถ
Totally get the confusion—I probably didn't explain it well enough in-game ๐ So here's the deal:
There's no time limit at all! Take your sweet time exploring. The only thing actually following you is that red cube (yeah, just one creepy little guy). The other colored cubes—they're not out to get you, they just... do weird stuff when you're not looking. Move around, flicker lights, that kinda thing.
You die if the red cube touches you 3 times. You'll hear a little sound each time it catches you. After the third... game over.
Hope that clears things up! And seriously, thank you for playing and taking the time to comment. It honestly makes my day ๐ฅน
If you try again, lemme know how it goes! ๐
it would be better to have a warning of flashing content. or a button to switch it off.
Very strange, eerie, haunting--very cool concept.
Issues:
- The flickering was too much for me and I had to stop playing.
- I fell through the floor...or maybe that was when I was caught by a cube and got stuck inside?
