It's an interesting concept for a game, and especially as a first jam some parts are very polished.  Though others I'd say still need some tweaking, specifically enemy placement and movement.  A couple finer points though:

  • Movement felt a little imprecise with how fast the character stopped, or when the character was able to jump.  Specifically chaining jumps to try and get through areas was a bit weird to get used to, since there seemed to be a delay on when you could jump again?  Though the base movement itself was pretty snappy by itself.
  • Enemy placement was... slightly annoying.  Because generally the only dangerous enemies were the ones dropped nearly on top of me basically every time which got pretty annoying.  I feel like putting them in the level as more of an obstacle rather than having them fall from the sky could help.  Though I'm not quite sure what the AI behind them is so it's just a suggestion.
  • The Music... was interesting.  I'm not the best at music but I'd say the, I think cymbals, which for me generally came through the left of my headset were near deafening which was a little hard to listen to, so I ended up shutting it off and playing the game without it.  The majority of the track was nice it was just that one portion that seemed to be out of balance in terms of volume.

Overall, especially for a first jam like I said a lot of it is very polished and the concept definitely has potential, just a few bits were needing some polish and I would personally recommend some level design changes.

As for first finished gamejam - pretty amazing. Fits the theme very well. Controls feel very nice, however the jump height was maybe little bit to low. 

Also, you can jump right after character dies, which causes some kind of fireworks effect - it's not a bug, it's a feature I guess :)

I see that this is your first game jam. Congrats on finishing a project within the time period. I have a few pieces of constructive feedback.

- The options button didn't seem to do anything. If you ran out of time to implement, I think you should just remove it entirely.

- I found it difficult to distinguish foreground and background (e.g, the cactus that I tried to jump over only to find it's part of the backgroud). Consider making background lighter or darker than the main game.

- The tutorial gave me a bit of that Navi in OOT "Hey, Listen!" vibe. This is a personal preference thing, but I prefer tutorial text in the world over interrupting gameplay.
