How does your game represent Mode?
Game incorporates different gameplay and controller MODES.

Nostalgia filled Crash Bandicoot-inspired feelgood platformer with groovy music.

( We run into some level loading bugs in the last stretch, so unfortunately only the first levels work in the jam-entry :(
If you wanna play the full 4 levels + boss fight, I made a day-1 patch here:

This game is a blast, and it has a staggering amount of vision for a game jam project.  The difficulty progression feels natural, and I appreciate that there are plenty of alternate paths to add some risk and reward for confident players.  I felt motivated to collect every watermelon I could, even though I had no idea if they were actually valuable in a gameplay sense.  In other words, your game is intrinsically satisfying, which is possibly the best quality a game can have.  It goes without saying, but a lot of the fun can be chalked up to the animation quality and the feedback it provides, as well as the sheer amount of style on offer.  When I entered the bonus stage and started striking poses, I audibly said, "oh hell yeah" despite being home alone.

I have some constructive feedback as well, mostly on the technical side.  First, I noticed that whenever I died, the camera sensitivity reset to its default value.  The watermelon counter also reverted back to zero, which felt punishing, but then it jumped back up to the amount I had before dying as soon as I collected another watermelon slice.  Not sure whether you intended for the counter to reset or not, but it sorta does neither.  I like the alternate costume and the tradeoff of jumping high vs jumping far, but being able to switch in mid-air for maximum height and distance kinda undermines that idea and makes tricky jumps more cumbersome than they need to be (3 button presses.)  Lastly, and I'm sure this is something that would have been changed if you'd had more time, the lack of floor textures in the second stage made it hard to judge the shape of terrain that's in shadow.

Incredible work overall.  I hope this didn't come off as too negative- my gripes are minor and I only mention them because I really like Clara, and I want to see it become the best game it can be if you choose to continue development.  Cheers, and thanks for the funny little critters.

Thank you for the kind words! It warms my heart hearing many people appreciating our quirky little game <3<3
The game wasn't definitely polished up to my standards, some annoying bugs / shortcomings had to be left in.

I feel you on all the the feedback. Hadn't noticed that the camera sense resets, imma write that down. The mode-changing doesn't feel right agreed, I only ended up adding one honey-melon that requires you to use the ' bigjump -> switch for speed ' because it's jank at best. Some other benefits/drawbacks for each mode could work better, at least some tweeks.
Ze melons do nothing! Some of them also respawn when I told them not to! At least they are fun to collect, schluuurp shlurp!

We were talking, since many people has said they liked the game and we had to rush it in the end, that we want to revisit the project at some point and polish the game after the judging. Adding in the stuff we wanted to, take out the jankiness and rest of the bugs and maybe add in new content. So look forward to the last bonus-stage being a dance/pose-off-battle against the boss!  ;D

Very neat, the mode switch was cool and I enjoyed the mini-game that followed. Good stuff. Love the funky music

This is a cool one, I like the graphics and level design a lot, and the fast-respawn time whenever you die was really convenient. The music is really good and fitting too, hits the nostalgia notes just right. I feel like Clara would be buds with Shneeblie the hedgehog in my game. The pose bonus round was really cool and unique, never did I ever think I'd play as a Capybara doing MJ moves, but it feels so right. Downloaded the patched version too, going to give that shot to see how it progresses from there.

Thank you! Haha yeah we couldn't stop laughing when we were thinkin of what she would do in that "other mode" and came up with the posing thing. We wanted some kind of a bonus round for it where you could just chill out with some music, not worry about dying and maybe collect some points.

This game is a vibe! It has tight controls, and i love the simplistic graphics and lighting. Very challenging but fun!

From the music to the fruit collecting, you have captured the nostalgic feel of Crash Bandicoot perfectly. The levels feel pretty blocky though so I think some of the development time, could've been used to make the levels more detailed. The bug after level 2 was really unfortunate, so I'm happy you could make the day 1 patch. Overall very impressive work!

Thank you for the compliments! We had tons of laughs and fun making the game. Yeah next time I'm thinking "start making the levels earlier" :P

took me back to the days of crash bandicoot lol, but i felt the level design was a little basic, wasn't much appealing to look at in the environments. Got stuck on the hole in the wall portion tho (when it started i was like wtf, is this really happing? lol)

Do you mean the song started to loop after it was done? Thats my bad, I had the wrong length set for that level so you have to wait for 40 seconds after the wall portion ends for it to continue :((  Even after that you can't progress the game though for it just spawns you over a killbox over and over again :,D
I didn't have time to fix those in time for the deadline but I uploaded another version the day before where it's fixed. I'm glad you got in some nostalgia trippin' atleast! :)

no worries jank is expected in most game jam games, even my game got uploaded with tons of jankiness lol. I'll check out the updated version for sure because I wasn't done playing lol, would love to play more

I really liked the aesthetics and it was fun to run around and grab watermelons. The poses in the other game mode were great!
