Yooooo, super cool. Very detailed startup, nice presentation and flying using the gauges was cool.
My only complaints were the exceptionally fiddly magneto switch and the fact that I can't check what the last transmission was incase I forgot :(
but yeah, good stuff

What do you like about your game?
Probably the clicky cockpit. Its fun and is the thing I had the most fun making.

I kinda forgot to respond to all the comments on the jam so my apologies for the late reply but thank you! This praise means a lot especially coming from such an esteemed VTOL VR modder as yourself. There was a lot more that I wanted to add, but even what I managed to settle on was way too ambitious and I wasn't able to get many of the quality of life features I wanted to add. I also had never done clicky cockpits before, and getting the magneto switch to work was especially tricky. Thank you for the feedback!
Pretty cool! It was fun to figure out how to launch and fly, but I got bamboozled by “Maintain heading 340” after the takeoff because the flight instructions say “Maintain Runway heading” and I didn’t realize that’s only for TAKEOFF not in-flight.
The oddity was a bit underwhelming, but I see a lot of potential here!
I managed to take off without issue, and I was keeping the heading and altitude given to me by the tower just fine. After flying for about five minutes without any sort of input from the game, though, I started to wonder what was supposed to be happening. The checklist said once en route, "RPM - Set, Mixture - Set, Engine Gauges - Check." I thought maybe those would be the trigger to kick off whatever event was supposed to happen, but the only thing I could really fiddle with was the fuel mixture, and I didn't know what exactly it was meant to be set at. As for the others, I don't know how to set the RPM explicitly or how to tell the game that I've checked the gauges. In the end, I turned around just to try and get something to happen and crashed on purpose. It sounds like I definitely missed out on something, so please let me know if you can figure out what I wasn't doing! I have a little bit of background in aviation so this game is interesting to me, but I don't want to rate it until I actually experience the whole game.
I really like this concept but as someone with zero knowledge of flying whatsoever (don't even play flight sims) this was really hard to penetrate. Definitely partially my fault. I eventually got through it and completed it however!
If anything the scariest part was figuring out how to fly a plane after being in it for 10 seconds. I did my best to avoid the ending but I guess you can't? I'm curious if there is only one ending.
I think this is a super cool concept, mixing horror with hard simulation is an awesome combo that I wish people explored more.
Also visually the game is gorgeous, cool cockpit and level, I really love how the houses look in the darkness, the moodiness of the dark night flying is really well done and I loved the vibe.
One major thing that would improve it is subtitles! I'm sure to aviation fans the radio transmission is more understandable, but to most normal people the tower is virtually indecipherable, which made following their instructions even harder.
Also the first time I played I rolled back through the hangar, jacked up the accelerator and took off vertically from a stand still, but I did safely bring the plane back around and land despite saying nothing to ATC. I'm sure there would be a small fine for such behaviour.
First of all, this is an impressive achievement considering your level of experience. It really got me into the mood (and I had that "now I wanna try getting a pilot license" kind of feel) and I gave this 30 minutes but couldn't achieve much after managing to take off (which took about 20 minutes). I think the issue is that page 2 instructions are unclear, page 1 was pretty ok. If you provide exact steps needed to progress the story (just what to do without pilot lingo) I'll be really happy to give it another try.
Haha thanks. I was pretty concerned about having people get off track, and I planned on flushing out the radio system a bit more to have tower tell you when you are off course, however the code was a mess and I ended up running out of time before implementing it. I also wished I had flushed the checklist out a bit more and had been a little more ham-fisted with the hints but I wanted to keep "muh immersion" so I sort of shot myself in the foot there. I appreciate the feedback though!
I managed to take off and land again, my light broke. the game has a nice atmosphere and reminded me a lot of msfs. I actually got jump scared once when i rolled backwards through the house while trying to start the plane. solid game for a game jam the instructions would need a bit of improvment tho
