I liked the inclusion of the pointer guiding you. That was a nice touch. Movement was smooth and satisfying to play as well and the light mechanic was well executed.
Some simple sound effects and some basic music would add a lot to the game. The text from the signs went off screen so scaling that back would be good too. All in all nice work.
Hey,
Unplayable at this res, i dont know if its just me but i tried on two different screens with different resolution.
Can you maybe "enable full screen" at the itch page, i think that will solve it for now?
I have turned that on. Do you want to try again?
Tried again :) you can now read the entire sign but it still seems zoomed in by a lot, is that intentional?
i moved around, switched to the darkside, got through a wall.. am i missing something?
The movement feels great (but a tad too fast), i like the way the arrow is pointing and also that tiny animation when you switch between dark/light side. very good implementation of the 1bit theme!
If this is your first game than this is an excellent product for 7 days of work :) i suggest keep uploading fixes till its in a solid playable state, dont give up and leave games half baked, even if they are short and too the point always try to finish a game (its a very important skill in gamedev)
Please rate my game too :)
Thanks for the suggestions! This scale is intentional because we don’t want players to see paths on the opposite side of walls, and we haven’t found a suitable way to hide these paths (since we only have two colors). We have plans to complete this game, but as university students, we do need some time (sad.
I like mazes but I kinda got lost and couldn't figure out what to do so I didn't finish the game, but good job overall the game is fine I think it's just me
Thank you so much for playing and commenting! We designed the maze such that it is challenging but also guidable. Definitly the difficulty level is higher than what we expected and I believe future restructure of the map would lower it. A quick hint to helpe better solve the maze is to use save and load function more so that you could always start from a point that you are familiar. Thank you for playing and enjoying!
The game is very well written, solid. There was no sound or music, unless I missed a config. You might want to try freesound.org.
The player moves just a bit to fast, you should drop the speed a bit.
I like the directional arrows alot.
Thank you very much for your comment! All three of us are complete novices about game developing, and we are all programmers, so thank you so much for providing this site :)
the signs that have lots of words tend to render out of screen and therefore only the middle portion of the screen is readable, there should also be some form of indicator (or I haven't notice it as the the game screen is only 640x600) when you can switch to the other side (spamming space can lead to cliping through wall). But then again, this game has a lot of potential :D.
Thank you very much for your comment! Based on our re-testing, we didn’t find any unreadable sign. The issue you ran into might be caused by some settings about the game screen on itch.io that we don’t yet understand. Regarding collision detection for switching, we have already prevented players from cliping throught the wall. I don’t know if you have noticed that you will be blocked when you attempt to switch and there is a wall on THE OTHER side. Or if you do get stuck in the wall, that’s probably a bug we don’t know about yet :). I would really appreciate if you can provide more information on this.
Thank you for enjoying our game! We put a lot of effort into designing the maze, but it seems that the maze might indeed be a bit challenging at the moment. Regarding your screenshot, it looks a bit unusual. What kind of device were you using to play the game?
a potato computer with a 1366x768 monitor.
