Oh, I love Delver.
Delver is a first-person rougelike, where you'll have to descend through a series of increasingly difficult levels to reach the Yithidian Orb/MacGuffin. Rougelike means permadeath, so when you're inevitably defeated, you start the whole thing over, carrying over only a couple of soul bound upgrades in your next attempt.
The game has procedurally generated levels, so each time round you'll also be fighting through a new set of levels with different enemy encounters. The quality of the levels generated is also really impressive, you'll spot the odd repeated room layout, but there's a surprising amount of variety in each theme, and the art direction is impressive, sometimes awesome.
I usually don't have the patience for permadeath mechanics, but the game has a really well-tuned difficulty curve, straightforward in the first few levels and difficult as hell in the final levels. The first-person perspective which I'm always a fan of feels fluid and responsive, I always feel responsible for my untimely deaths.
Definitely give delver a go. You can get a taste of what the game has to offer in 5-10 minutes, but personally, every time I play it, I want to play for hours on end.
