BLP rated ΔV: Rings of Saturn

BLP rated a game 4 years ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

The overly reductive review of this game is that it's a strange mix of Pac-Man, Asteroids, and Diablo with a bit of RimWorld thrown in.

Pilot your space ship and shoot asteroids into smaller bits (Asteroids), then get the littlest pellets into your cargo hold (Pac-Man). When your cargo is full (or you've had your ship ruined by bad piloting or pirates) head back to town, repair or upgrade your equipment, and hire new minions (Diablo). The game has an story generator (RimWorld) where your crew have stuff they want to do and backstories boiling in the background.

Overall it's a great way to spend half an hour at a time. Obviously a work in progress, but one that gets regular updates and seems to be getting a lot of love from the dev. I've only had one crash to desktop in probably 40 hours of play. Game does chug when it has to track too many objects or when a new ship/space station spawns, but that's really my only consistent gripe. It's not a deep experience, but it is a very enjoyable one.
