Beautiful remaster, solid gameplay. In contrast to the original third-person view, you play in first-person and just like P.T. - it works perfectly. There's about an eight-second delay in the menu screen, right after clicking the starting button, but the rest of the game runs smoothly (and it could just be my PC). Models look great, especially Harry, but in-game walking/running movement for the NPCs - Cheryl and monsters - can seem a bit off. As for the main protagonist, this model looks amazing as if it's been completely redone (you can see the rest of your body when looking down) and the voice acting is great, being far better than what was given in the original game (personal opinion).
Though, I had hoped more dialogue would be pulled from the original game upon getting close to certain objects or areas as an interaction button isn't featured. Despite this, the new script written for the remake works quite well in replacement. All in all, the town looks wonderful - except for maybe some blatant invisible walls and a couple of visible missing textures (or whatever you call being able to see the empty spaces behind buildings) - the re-imagined cut scenes, sound, lighting, fog, voice acting (dialogue too), and models are all fantastic.
For someone who has played and beat the first Silent Hill, I think this is a stupendous remake and tribute to a locked-up series owned by a bunch of bastards. I'll take almost anything I can get now from this damned franchise, but you put a lot of attention to detail into this and I think it deserves far more appreciation. Disregarding any minor flaws, I give it five stars!
