The concept of presenting the entire game through a smartphone interface is really interesting, even if it would later be improved by other games like Sara Is Missing. The puzzle/investigation gameplay is simple yet very effective, and it provides some actual replay value in spite of most puzzle answers being the same every time.

Where Replica struggles more is the worldbuilding and storytelling. In spite of some minor ambiguity (is it really a satire of fascism, or is it mainly a metaphor for late stage capitalism?), the premise is very obvious, the social commentary too in-your-face, and the story a bit too simplistic in its straightforwardness. The variety of endings, both serious and silly, is a nice touch, but it doesn't outweigh the more fundamental flaws.
