EmbryonicWolf rated Hell After School

A downloadable game for Windows.

Ok... I like this game... I like the challenge it gives... *However,* what I dont like is the bloody brick wall that you hit in mid game. Two enemies are found in the courtyard that you have to encounter, and their combat feels extremely unfair. One has range, which is supposed to be balanced with a charge time for you to get away from them, but if you hit them during it, they can just fire off after the stun even if they weren't done the charge up when you hit and stun them. The other has hella speed and can out run you in short charge attacks, yet there isnt an attack attack that stuns them long enough to put distance between you and them. I figured that firearms were the solution since both enemies have short range and the guns can hit across the screen, but there are so many in one section of the map that once you start shooting, you have the whole damn yard coming down on you. And the I-frames, dear god the I-frames. Even *IF* you manage to get only one or two coming after you, a single shot wont take them down, which makes sense, but then they have what feels like half a second of invincibility, making *everything* you can do useless! I get that its meant to balance the player out and stop them from stun locking shit, but with how many there are and how fast they come at you, its overkill. Oh, and the player I-frames, while lasting as long as the enemies, aint gonna help you much unless you have your HP maxed out like I did, which brings be to the next complaint; tanking. With enough hp and good map knowledge, you cant almost completly tank entier sections of the game. I've walked through entier hallways which have 2 load screens in them without so much as swinging the sword. And to loop back to the two enemies, You cant tank them! the section they're in is too large and you have to go through at *least* two loading doors, which *respawns everything on the other side!* So even if you cleared them out to reach a load door, or you tanked your way there, you cant heal any damage taken and you have to fight or tank your way to the next location you wanna go. There are 4 fucking load doors in this courtyard. And one of them drops you out literally right in front of an enemy! I seriously cant bring myself to finish the game thanks to the courtyard, which is a shame because the rest of it is really fun.
