It's good. A unique fantasy squad game.
The format of random encounters (which are well done here! A little more into them would have been good but it makes the mark) is that they happen between dialogue as the party is driving. You have control over what encounters/rest stops you encounter (I personally hit nearly every random encounter w/ extra difficulty on, which might explain why I wish there was a bit more variety)
It drops you right in there but introduces mechanics to you gradually (you can actually spam attack your way through a lot of the first chapter. This is on purpose so you can get used to the core systems !)
The writing is very love it or hate it, nothing wrong with that. Story holds together well, I'd say too on the nose for too long at points.
