Esther rated Price for Freedom: Avarice

Esther rated a game 4 years ago
A browser game made in HTML5.

The CG and screenshotss on the store page all lookgorgeous, but something in the game itself is not engaging.

In terms of worldbuilding, it feels like a lore-dump. A lot of names are thrown around all the time, but all I got to see and experience of it in 4h of play are a jail cell and its undead-filled undergound.

In terms of gameply, I'm thrown into a very convoluted combat system with no tutorials, lots of gauges and tokens and counters of all kind, and a lot of small prints to read to get the specifics of anything and everything. After a handful of these I just skipped through them, which is kind of sad seeing it's the only thing there is to do in there.

Then I got stuck for way too long on a closed door because failed to notice an unremarkable skeleton laying amongst the clutters of an unremarkable room.
