Absolutely essential! I would never be able to work at the pace I do without this and its awesome search tools, formatting, time savers, etc - just great! Only thing to be careful about is, like all Game Maker tools, watching out for when you're saving/loading stuff differently and might overwrite stuff with the engine itself - but because it saves backups, that doesn't bother you all that much in the end!
