Rixeam rated Glaze of Blory

A downloadable game.

This system is a joy to read through, and for that alone it is an easy recommendation. It took no time at all for my players to pick up. Perhaps the greatest strength lies in each player taking on two roles- one, their squire, and the other as another player's associated knight. Players always have something to do, and the experience of earnestly playing for two different sides keep them on their toes. Everyone bought into the quirky world and the knights they ran into, with each character truly feeling alive, even if it was never meant to last. In more than five years with this group, we've never laughed quite so much at the table. Glaze of Blory has taken the crown as one of our favorite one shot experiences.

If anyone wonders how this might work out for your group, our table was a mix of experience levels, where most only had familiarity with d20 games. It was my first full GM experience, but I never felt overwhelmed. We were playing virtually by using voice and text chat, and a dice roller, with a very simple text character sheet for players to track stats, and a page each for inventories. Perhaps the real key to success was that each person brought their own bizarre sense of humor with them, and I suggest running with whatever suggestion sounds the most absurd, especially if that means you also end up with a knight carrying around an Easy-Bake Oven.

Thank you for this gem, Johnny!
