While my initial experience with T-DEF was one of complete curb stomping, I've found myself absolutely enamoured by the simple yet robust recreation of the X-Com experience. 

I still have to try out the Campaign play module which I'm really excited about.

I have also been looking at how T-DEF handles solo narrative for some projects of my own to which I owe Lari a great creative debt.
