Really cool concept for a visual novel. I always love when male characters take on a more nurturing paternalistic role, our culture often associates masculinity with violence (even paternalistic figures like Joel have to meet their protective violence quota) so it's nice to see tenderness displayed. I would love to see the rest of this (especially if he ends up adopting her as a daughter it'd be so gosh dang cute).
The art is beautiful and the only writing criticism I have at all is that it might've felt more natural if their first interactions with the kid were trying to ask her how long/why she'd been in there, what's her name, etc. I mean, obviously she wouldn't answer, and they'd conclude that she either can't talk or is overwhelmed, but it would feel more natural then waiting all the way until they got to the dude's house before asking her anything. Also some of the options menu text is unreadable because it's pure black on black. That's pretty much the sum total of critique I have, mostly just great job and I can't wait to see more.
