OverlyAsian rated Temptation's Ballad

A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

While Temptation's Ballad isn't my favorite furry visual novel, it's hands down the best one that I've ever read. I love the overarching narrative and worldbuilding. I love how well the characters play off of one another. I love the distinct brand of humor that each one has. I love the nuance within every character's personality. I love the discussion about filial and platonic relationships. I really love each of the main cast's quirky actions (as in Artemi's salute, Cole's snap, and Sidd's knuckle crack. especially Sidd's knuckle crack, actually). The D&D system just strengthens all of these elements and helps make them come alive. If there's one gripe I could possibly make, it's that the horny feels a little needless sometimes. There are moments where it doesn't serve to further the narrative or develop a character, and in those moments the jokes that come with it could be simplified. However, this also means that the horny is often punctuated with humor, so it's still fun to read.

Although this is a very specific desire, I hope that Cole's past relationship with Clyde never gets properly explained. I felt like an explanation was being teased pretty hard, but I'm against actually learning about it because the specific details might not matter if it isn't relevant to a present plot point. I think that the reader is given enough clues to contextually figure out vaguely what kind of situation it is, and that's the perfect amount of information that's needed to understand Cole's character and the duo's feelings towards each other.

Regardless, I'm excited to see where the trio's journey will lead. I haven't been this engaged in a story in a long time and that is, above all, what makes Temptation's Ballad so special.

Edit: I was wrong. I'm so sorry.
