So good, a very smooth read, lots of dips into worlds, and very funny. It feels like an ornery-ness, despondency, spitefulness, fear, all smushed together and spread across characters/settings in slightly different flavors, but always with some air of vague hope or humor, or some level of acceptance of the situation in a way that either lightens or softens the load or at least just fucking deals with the load, without detracting from the hard hits.
